Gah.

Got a special xbox and used to use Flash FXP to FTP to it no problem at all.

Anyway new PC, new set up yadda yadda, reinstalled Flash FXP and hit a prob. I can't remember how the hell I set IP's etc up before so I could FTP.

Now I remember what user name and pass to give the xbox no problem, but looking at the guides I used before it says to alter the IP of my network card...which b0rks my internet. I don't remember having to change anything before other than using the IP of the xbox (provided by Evox dash).

Anyway I tried allocating the IP suggested etc and it doesnt work but it does stop my broadband connect.

Does this make sense? And if its against forum rules - sowwy, please delete Meg :)

u just need the ip of the xbox?

username/password is usually xbox

how is the xbox connected to your pc? LAN?

Also it depends on your special xbox as to when u can ftp in.

Are you using a router perchance? If so it could be the case that the xbox IP is on a different subnet to the router/PC. Is the Xbox's IP static or assigned by the router? If it was assigned by the router there should be no problems.

That's why you lose your BB connect when you allocate an IP. Say your router's subnet is 192.168.2.x and your xbox's IP is 192.168.1.3 then you won't be able to connect to it using the router as a hub (not if the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0). If you change your PC's IP to one in the Xbox's range (192.168.1.2 for arguments sake) then your router won't let you access itself as the default gateway (no internet:().

That all made more sense in my head than I was able to convey there :) I hope you get the idea.

Thanks for the replies lads, sorry I should have explained my setup :)

I can get the IP of the xbox from Evox and am sorted for the User/pass of the box.

Babs, you are making sense mate! :)

I am using a hub. I used to have 2 PC's on a LAN before I got the xbox, added xbox before no probs to the LAN. Have since got rid of the 2nd PC.

So currently I have PC running, with cable modem plugged in, xbox plugged into hub (as I did before).

I (just about) get why I lost the BB connect thanks mate. I am not sure about subnets (scratches head). About the xbox IP being static - every time I use Evox to check the IP its 192.168.1.3 by default.

My head hurts :).

If you set Evox to use DHCP and not a static IP then your router should just assign it an IP and all should be ok.

I use 2 nics in my PC with the nic to the xbox using a 192.168.0.1 ip, thats even more fiddly to setup than using a router ;)

Maybe Im just being thick...:|

Thanks again.

It won't have a DHCP option per se. It will merely have a "get IP automatically" option. In network settings there should be an option to get settings automatically and get settings manually.

Well the standard dashboard does. Don't know about these illegal satan filled evil ones though.

/edit: I have used the word "option" far too many times :/.

FTP to xbox - also having problems!!!

Hi Guys,

I hope you don't mind me jumping on the bandwagon, but i'm having problems too.

I'm running Win XP and i also have a "special xbox"... The xbox has been configured by a friend of mine who chipped it and he loaded all of the software etc.. from his PC fine.
But i have installed the FTP software and for some reason it's not connecting to the xbox.

My ISP is NTL and i have a Dynamic IP address.
I have been constantly playing around with the LAN TCP/IP settings, but it constantly knocks out my BB connection. I've also got another network card and the BB uses USB. But this is still not working.

Any ideas of how to configure my network card?

Many thanks

Andy
