[18-11-2005] The Camelot Reporter
News eagerly awaited by some players can be found in this week's reporter : you will discover the release date of the "classic" servers as well as information about the beginning of tests for Darkness Rising. The background piece offers revelations about Necyomancy, an art that intrigues many of you.
Upcoming release of the "classic" servers
We are now planning the set of operations that will enable the opening of 2 "classic" ruleset servers, one in English, the other in German. Testing has been successfully carried out in both languages but there are still many parameters to tune.
We thus plan a release of these two servers for December, either Wednesday the 7th or Thursday the 8th. Of course, we will inform you if this date is to be changed, but nevertheless, there is not long to wait for those who wish to try out these alternative servers.
First tests on Darkness Rising
The tests on the European version of Darkness Rising have just begun, in English of course. The translations are also well advanced and the tests on the other versions will begin in the following weeks. Even though the tests are already launched, we cannot yet announce a release date. Unlike ordinary patches, a new expansion doesn't only depend upon installation on the servers but also upon availability in the distribution network. All these elements should be arranged soon however and we will thus be able to give you the official release date of Darkness Rising shortly.
Maintenance next week
A server shutdown is planned for next week, in order to bring some enhancements. After this maintenance, you will be able to see the underpopulated realm for each server in the server browser window and we will also have a tool which will enable us to propose ingame polls to you, just like the American servers. With the maintenance, the interface of the ram control window which contained a bug will also be fixed.
The operation should be carried out on Tuesday or Wednesday. The precise date will be given to you at the latest the day before.
Recovery of financial activity in the Capital cities
Since the arrival in town of the Old Alchemist, we can note a certain sparkle in the markets of the capital cities, and the prices for glass and potion ingredients have greatly increased. Since we learnt how to concentrate several potions in a single container, adventurers regularly go into the Capital to equip themselves and some of them even trade bottles and barrels by entrusting their products to their consignment merchant who are reporting brisk trade.
In less than one week, thousands of barrels have already been created though it is unlikely that the news has yet reached the deepest corners of the Realms.
The quest we implemented last week intrigued the first players who had the curiosity to go and meet the Old Alchemist, and the value of his knowledge was quickly appreciated, generating a spectacular level of interest. It is not rare to see queues around his table. If you still have not tried out this GOA quest, note that it enables you to get bottles and barrels that can contain several potions, while taking only one slot in your inventory. These magic bottles and barrels can however only preserve the most current potions, for which the ingredients can be bought by the merchants located in town.
