Only joke with friar is their lvl raised attributes.

Primary: Piety
Secondary: Constitution
Tertiary: Strength

Atleast put Dex as third attribute to give Friar some more WS and dmg.

Str is guuuuuud m8s1211

in my personal opion as a friar, i would preferr:

Primary: Dex
Secondary: Qui
Teriary: Con

as i rarely heal and leave it to the clerics, and now with ToA can get % to heal spells etc, and who ever saw a rej specced friar? give Battle melee dmg insanity, 4 the win ofc.

Someones missing the patch they long ago which gave friars their self dex/qui buff :p

Mythic stated they cant change a classes pri/sec/ter stats for some silly data-corruption reason, so they got the +75 dex/qui self buff (not as good as buffbot dex/qui nowadays, but at the time it was the best dex/qui buff in the game, for a class who was missing 16 dex? (if teritiary str was dex, they would get +1 dex every 3rd level, around 16 dex i think) a +75 dex/qui buff was excellent)

Would be nice to see the friar attrs changed, but theres lots of other chars with fubar attrs too (cleric str, casters qui, list is endless).

Friars are decent characters, I sorely miss the time they were a requirement of an RvR group. Running fully friar+cleric resist buffed back then was quite funny.

The proposed det for hybrids is pretty crap, pure tanks get a 25% bonus to det that hybrids do not, and det is apparently going to be severely nerfed.

Something along the lines of Current Det1 = Frontiers Hybrid Det5.

unfortunatly this completly stops any benefit from a cleric dex/quick buff which is kinda crap when you think about it.

Friar gains very little from cleric, which is Albion's primary support class. Friar used to be a good class, but with no det, and little utility from buffbots (which every good group uses) their spot in group is a waste, a merc or a cleric can perform a Friar's job twice as well.

Friar has been looked over a lot recently, but hopefully that we now have a TL again, things will improve.

As for ever seeing a healing friar, I used to be a healing friar, 43 rejuv :p, and I respecced recently to 44 rejuv :)

Well.. The piety is suposed to give you bether buffs (atleast in theory), and that is not a bad thing.. and friars is, as Ilum said, a healing class.. There is no escaping that. They are suposed to heal/buff/fight (atleast they were in the early days).. These days friars are not good for anything than backup heals and base buffs (to give more specs from the cleric), and maybe alittle dmg (most groups does not think aboute this)

I personaly love playing my friar on camlan, there is few classes that can beat me 1on1 (not with my lvl 50 rog armor/staff )

I think its a fun class to play.. the only problem is mana regeneration (end we get a spell for), but thats not a "big" problem.

And friars should realy concider other RAs before det, but if it helps to get groups, then hey, why not.. just like scouts (they also get det in the planed RA system :eek6: ), other RAs are more importaint (i think) :)

Friers fall between hybrid tanks and healer but unlike all other hybrid tanks there WS/damage stat does not increase as they level. They cannot choose the realms high dex race witch would give them extra damage.

There self Dex/Qui 10min buff which is suppose to make up for this need to be speced for and is worse than the clerics one. Nearly all other Hybrid tanks gain a huge benifit from being buffed by the realms main buffer, but appart from the extra con they gain from the str/con buff and a few extra points from cleric Dex/Qui thats it. Friers need there buffs to bring them up to the same level of others (friers are expected to have more buffs up to compete than any other class).

Now looking at the healing/buffing side of there hybrid status. Appart from Warden, friers have the worst secondary healing line, with a pour heal over time (which unlike friggs draws agro). In there buffing line, appart from resist buffs they have no realm group utility. Even Healers have a better buffing line than friers when it comes to group spells.

On the suject of pointless combinations, Highlanders would make better casters than HO because of better Dex, no need for a caster with 90 STR. No point Avalonians having high Qui, whats he need it for swinging his staff faster, and why can they become Clerics with 2 high useless stats for clerics yet Saracens with High Dex cannot. They would also make good Wizards/Thurgys with there faster casting.
