Hi ,

I'm from Hib/Exc and have a 40 Bard there.

I recently moved to alb/pryd coz i played all the hib chars and wanted something new. Atm I have a 10 Theurgist ( earth spec coz ppl said i needed the bubble) and a 6 Friar.

I only grouped once with my Friar and wanted to know what is my role in a (balanced grp). The damage I'm dealing with my Quarterstaff is quite high and I'm not taking much hits although the leather armour. I outdamaged most tanks and beated a 2h armans in a duel.

So my question is : Should i work as a tank or healer? Or both ?

Thanks alot and hope to see you ingame.

Wondering the same thing, and I've only grouped once with my friar too :) Also I'm going for v.high enhance and staff so rejuv is my tertiary spec so I'm most in it as a secondary healer if I get my way..
but I think it all depends on the groups, but sadly I'm a insane noob to alb and it's classes so I have no idea what the groups should be like ;) (guessing cleric/theurg is the mainframe with some tanks)

Any experience friars around please feel free to answer :)

Lemme tell you how I play my friar RVR.

But to be honest it depends on the situation and the grp. But my favourite move in a nicely balanced grp is to step back a few steps right at the start, some times close to a caster, a watch for 5 - 10 seconds and throw a heal around if needed, even if your rejuv isn't high you'll still be able to throw some heals around. Friars offen do a good job at protecting the casters if a single tank goes for them, because of thier haste self buff they'll deal pretty nice dmg and sometime take the focus of the caster, thereby often allowing the caster to assist the friar and kill the enemy. Stay away from spear herors tho, they hurt ;).

If you have two clerics you have the upper hand in a fight, rushing for a caster sitting way back unsupported by a tank is great, same principle applies here, you have the haste buff and you'll hit like a truck. Result should be dead caster.

Healing isn't your major job, but sometimes you have to do it to ensure a victory.

Most of the things written here are prolly over simplified, my best advice would be to get on the field and try some different stuff out.

I usually play mine as a backup healer and dive into melee when the healing isnt needed.

I still maintain the strength of a friar is versatility, your not the best tank or the best healer, but you can do both pretty well.

Saying that with Necromancers absorb buff stacking with our own we do tank pretty damn well now :)

Your job is to look kewl with a Star Wars Jedi Doublestick style staff and do what is necessary. Assist tanks maybe but when healer starts to get it, stop and heal.

I was gonna do a battle spec but after a few levels i found i was required to heal a hell of a lot. Decided on 25 rejuve it does me fine, 293 per heal and not too bad variance on group heal. In RVR though it's not quite as effective, slow cast time and relatively low heal amount doesn't do the job when 3 or more people in your group are getting hit. Best bet is to hang back try and get a few heals off the dive in, even with 25 in rejuve i do enough damage.
