how's it working?
any problems or anything? Datel are recalling all 1.04's btw, but you have to send it off to them if you've already bought it :/

So its been released, and now its being un-released? Whatever happened to Datel's business sense?

From what i've read, they released two versions, one of which is bugged as hell, and another fixed, on the same day. Now they've recalled the bugged ones at the consumers expense. damn jewbags.

bah, the Panasonic Q goes against the very ethos of the Gamecube philosophy. It's all about the GAMES lad! Not yer fancy-pants DVD integration!

*looks at Xbox under tv*

Bugger.

DVD integration in a console is pointless. Especially when my standalone dvd player would murders ps2/xbox playback :(

Xbox playback is quite good imho (not as good as a decent standalone but bleh). PS2 is pooey :/

Not so. Granted, I would rather apply sandpaper to my testicles and then dip them in malt vinegar than watch movies on a console dvd player... but for someone who just wants something to watch them on, rather than experience them (ok starting to sound like a geek) they're perfect. Why spend more on a seperate dvd player, if you're happy with watching it on a console..

p.s. just for the record, my dvd player murders all too :D

hehe, one of the standout problems of the ps2's is the way you can't use RGB Scart without the whole green thing :(

I haven't tried it yet because I have a Jap/US Cube AND PAL Cube. I have actually lent FL to a PAL owning mate along with Jap Winning Eleven 6 and he says it plays fine.

As long as you get ver 1.06 FL is fine and works very well so I wouldn't worry about getting one.

Most RGB scarts for the ps2 (good ones) have a switch to avoid the green screen. Problem is you can't watch DVDs with true RGB output. Unless you use a region/macro h4x cd.

Double posting newbie.

SO nath... you can only "experience" a movie if you have a DVD player with decent DVD playback and a good telly? (you need the latter to see the former).

I consider myself a lover of films and it's ludicrous to believe that you can only truly enjoy a movie with excellent DVD playback and a crystal clear picture. When was the last time you saw a decent picture on a cinema screen? never.Yet one of the best experiences (not the only one) of a film is in an old cinema. Even a purely digital production like attack of the clones was still reproduced averagely on the big screen and the film happened to be poor anyway.

Anyone who believes that a picture perfect DVD/Telly is needed to experience a movie isn't watching and enjoying the film for what it's truly worth. But then again they are probably the same crowd who though final fantasy was a good film.

You missed my point.

Having a fancy dvd player/surround set up/good tv *is* a different experience to watching it on a bog standard tv with a bog standard player.

I'm not saying you can't enjoy a film on a console dvd player, and you're right the main enjoyment is from the film itself but the their is an experience thing going on when you're in the cinema (you're right, quality isn't so good but it's a huge screen, and has good sound). You just don't get that nice experience watching films on crappy dvd players with tinny stereo sound on a 4:3 tesco own brand tv. Sure, you could still enjoy the film, but it's not the same experience.

My point is, there's a difference between enjoying a film, and getting that experience thing.. (really need to find a different word).

I totally agree with the sound point of view though. A good system makes a massive difference.

Although I find standard quality DVD playback no less enjoyable or massively noticable than excellent DVD playback when using a good widescreen telly.

Really? When my dvd player was in the shop they gave me a loan Cyberhome p.o.s. and it totally detracted from my enjoyment of the film, it was so grainy and blocky, looked utterly lame :|

That's probably me getting used to top notch quality, and so other stuff looks kinda lame tbh :/

Cyberhome are shite though.

The point is the DVD playback on most consoles is average... not excellent.

But it is better than a low budget ASDA effort.
