These cards don't actually give you voice minutes though, do they? Looks like just texts to me.

They are pay as you go sims with free texts added on, probably for the first few months. You'll have to buy top-up cards to get calls.

You get free texts or something if you top up 10 quid a month. Or £10 a month contract in other words.

This is what I'm on and it's fantastic if it suits your mobile phone usage. It's standard payg, but you have to pay 10 quid a month. It's not entirely like a contract in that you do get to use that £10 for voice calls and you get 300 free text's a month. Basically, I only use about 10 quid a months worth of calls and I never run out of free texts. It's fabbo.

Surely this is a very bad thing.. as wont it help Crime a bit, all it takes is steal a phone get it unlocked then insert one of these free Sim's and you are away. Sounds like a great tool if someone needs a phone for a one off call... just need to get the phones delivered to a drop off address and your sorted as they dont require any proof of who you are or anything to tie you to the address. All you need is access to the address. So if you fancy a act of terrorism with a one off phone and you know of an empty house you sorted :/

Sorry if this sounds OTT but this is seriously irresponsible of O2.

The only difference is that these sims normally cost like a fiver? You can buy them in stores with cash - it's nothing new.

Damn didn't know they become that available already :/ Well its taking another thing out of the loop ... just feel Sim cards etc needs to be easily identifiable who really owns it. But if you can already pick them up in shops with no id then little difference between them giving them away free.

Erm, phone companies blacklist IMEI's across networks now. So phone theft really isnt as bad as it used to be The ability to get a phone unloocked and put any old sim in really only affects the companies that offer cut price pay as you go handsets. They never recoup the money.

lol, you've never needed ID to register any form of prepay phone. And sim-packs have been available since about ooh, 2001?

Of course you don't need a prepay phone to be anonymous, there's always payphones...

Well not quite - you get to use that 10 quid on calls too so it's better than just 3p a text.

Cheapskates.

They sent two to my work address, two to my mums and none to my home address. So much for my twelve Sims then
