A finnish ISP told today that their coming out with a new, sponsored internet for the whole nation

The internet service is free, no monthly costs, nothing!

"This is the first step towards a free web"(rough translation)

They are even planning on making it off-shore, branching out to sweden, norway etc, giving this service regardless of the nation. UK is an obvious problem with the whole island dilemma, but their hoping that if enough sponsors jump on the vagon, they could have the finance to draw the lines there.

One thing that really shook me up is the casual way he stated this:

"By now you must realise that the date is april first and you might be a fool"

btw one of the uk papers were runnign a story about how all of the uk's roads were to be covered with biscuits instead of tarmac lol.

The idea came from korea i believe, they have free inturnet and it's almost mandatory if i'm not ocmpletely brainf*cked. Which i probably am.

Think the koreans pay for it (its cheaper but they do pay afaik) but alot of the country got it installed for free as part of a government scheme; something like making a high speed internet connection required for all new building projects.
