Done it - quit and cancelled.

Perhaps now I can regain a life where I don't sit for hours staring at an asteroid or plotting the same course to the same place ad infinitem. And for what? So I can buy a bigger/better/faster ship to repeat the same zombifying process. Even when you do get a decent ship and weapons, the combat is point and click monotony.

What a joke of a game.

Everyone try Planetside, you'll never come back here.....

PS - downloaded beta, played for 30 seconds then deleted it

eve - is good for a while then you realise its too messed up and there is too much of the game that isnt there

The main problem with EVE is how boring it can get at the start. As I and many others have said it improves a lot when you join a corp and start earning serious money, plus recent patchs have started to improve little niggles people were havinf with the UI.

I joined a corp, which was very good and helped me with cash, ships etc.

But the game remained the same - mining, shuttling ore, rinse and repeat OR hunt pirates with terrible AI and collect goodies that don't add much to your ship's abilities.

Add to that - lack of content which should have been included in the release of the game; boring travelling system if you are trying to get to a starsystem a few jums away (or more) and the pathetic nebie hunters in the starting systems around Caldari who think it's cool to waste Ibis and Bantams.

It just sucks. Just my opinion.

If you've played after this latest patch the pirates now use lasers and stay at distance that can, depending on your weapons, make it harder for you to hit them.

WoW looks interesting, although not that different from many other MMOG.

I think it depends on what you like as to whether you like Eve.

I could never get into the whole fantasy area of DAoC and EQ, but Eve gives me that sci-fi hit I've been waiting for, for a long time.

Despite some of its drawbacks I'm sticking with the game as I feel it has real potential.

Yes the content isn't there.. but the potential is. A lot of people who played beta (myself included) said that it needed another month of beta before going live. Personally I think the latest patch, 1052, should have been the release edition. Now that we have it I think in 2 months time if you were to come back things will be totally different.

Anyhow.. enjoy waiting for whatever.

Right now all I can see in this game is, that’s it all about getting bigger and better. The only goal seems to get bigger ships and more high-tech equipment. It's same deal playing solo or in a corporation, only difference is in corp.'s you getter bigger quicker.
Of course it’s nice every time you deliver a load of ore and get it refined to come one step closer to the next big ship. But for how long will that be fun?
This game is all about making money (no, not real life money). And that’s sad. Because that reminds me of being at work, and I don’t play games to be working. And if the only other thing in this game is chatting with other people, I can do that without paying for it elsewhere.
This game has a lot of potential, but it has focus on the wrong things. I just shake my head at corps bragging about almighty they are and people paying money (yes, real life money) to get an advantage in game.
And yes, if it I don’t like it a can quit. I know that, and might do it.

They will introduce storylines, so for instance, a bunch of corps would join together and help fight against an bunch of previously undiscovered aliens, etc. etc. Can you imagine what the EVE universe would be like if suddenly the market were altered because an evil empire was in charge? Despite drawing parallels to star wars, such things are possible.

There will also be people who can discover old relics in space, find new species, open gateways to new universes with completely different technologies.

Anything is possible, you'll see.

Well. I can only assume most of you haven't gone out to the "edge" to get the ores your corp needs?

Out there it is mainly PC pirates - I got myself killed by j0rt today (no disgrace there since he had a 5 mill bounty on him and is the most wanted pirate in the game). So tis cat and mouse really - you need to use your head and warp to places they wouldn't think of. Otherwise they find your base and you are stuffed. The npc rats out here aren't too bad at all - I suspect that will change soon though. Those of you that don't get some force out here "early doors" are not gonna like what you find.

Give you an example : our base out there is in 0.3 space. We have to do more than five jumps to find bist. There are NO stations out there and everything is 0.0

Have fun PC pirates but you know you're gonna get nerfed (as are us miners grabbing loads of bist)

lol nope. played for about 2 weeks been thru 5 chars all taken to BR20. The last one i hit BR12 in 1 day. Planetside is all about who can spend the most time in game and gain most certs. And ZERG, ZERG, ZERG, ZERG.

The only thing i liked about the game was that you could kill people by shooting at their lag ghosts.

I was really hoping for something like that Tom, but they haven't even implemented the "News"-function, which is mentioned in the manual yet.

After weeks of fighting the forces in the ***system has finally surrendered. After the destruction by imperial forces aided by mercenaries of two key installations and days of starvation the rebellious troops gave of the fight yesterday. Now when peace has been restored new food production facilities need to be built and the rebuilding orders are being sold at the lowest price. Slave traders rejoice as the rebels now can look forward to a new career.

*** OWNERS WATCH OUT
The notorious pirate group *** is attacking cruisers of the *** type in the *** region. The *** cruiser is known for it flexible design and the *** pirates uses the wreckages in the production of their own ships. Local authorities advice a strong escort if you think about going through any region where the *** pirate group is operating.

WAR CONTOINUES
The war between the two lesser kingdoms of *** in the *** system and *** in the *** increases. Both sides are on the lookout for ground combat weapons and stocks of food. They’re also hiring mercenaries to prevent the opposition to get the same things. The *** group is trying to find a peaceful solution to this internal conflict which has been going on for the last couple of weeks.

EXPLORES REACH THE OTHER SIDE OF THE *** NEBULA
The *** system on the other side of the *** nebula has been explored for the first time. Due to the hazardous nature of the nebula only frigate-sized ships has been able to pass through.

PIRATES ATTACK STARGATE CONSTRUCTION SITE
The construction of the star gate from *** to *** has suffered a setback when pirates attacked and destroyed one of the gate segments being towed from the *** factory to the building site. As a result stocks for the *** corporation which has been granted the building licence has been falling the whole day.

SOLAR CHANGES
The sun in the *** system is in a faze of large solar storms, which has made all travel through the system impossible. Local authorities have closed all star gates leading to the system until further notice.

Not a single person, from 2-100~ of people running around together because they can. Lets say you are in a gang of 4 people and you run into a gang of 20 people that attack you that is a zerg. But hey you might still beat them but the odds is stacked in their favor.

And you could call the stripmining events for zerging the roids I pity thoose poor roid they stand no chance against our mighty lasers.

That might happen, but the GMs would respond by sending in a load of pirates to the sectors these people were operating in, thus creating a war of sorts, and the need to spread the cash a bit more.

They could also respond by implementing 'the law', sanctions, etc.

This is not the first time you have made a post like this, you have also done it in the DaoC forums if you dont like the game, instead of flaming it, just dont post and go play another game, you do know that posting and flaming the game will not make much difference to the people playing it, they wont suck up to you as a leader and suddenly flood to whichever game you are going to next.

Sharma - i'll post wherever and whenever I want pal. You have no right to dictate to me what to do on these boards. I am not defaming or abusing anyone.

If YOU don't like the post, fine, but don't tell me what to do, it's very arrogant.

And I think you'll find my post on the DAOC board is very, very different to this. That post was all about addiction and the fact that the game is so good I almost got addicted to it, and spent so many hours/days/weeks playing it. This post is the complete opposite - i played a few days and got completely bored of it.

How the hell can you compare the posts?
