Don't know if people have thought about this, or if this is the "stupidest idea evah!", but i'll post it anyway.

There's many people who browse FH, from different locations, different jobs, different contacts. Basically, we got a lot of power if combined.

So, i'm thinking, why not start to use it?

Say, for example, someone of our "flock" is in dire need of financial assitance and FH could help them.

Some person is in need of a place to stay when in a foreign county, FH is there.

Maybe a "FH fund" that could be used on a "vote basis" to give to needy FH people.

Etc, bet you people could come up with a ton of things.

Just was wondering, would people be interested in making this place a place where you could get help like you would from a family, sort of an e-family(as i like to think of it).

Flame away.

It's not Emo ffs :p!

*angst Teenager face!*

I like the idea of the "place" to stay thing, not too keen on the finance thing, that something that is open to a whole world of abuse.

Ofcourse the finance thing should be for "local people" only, you know, so that no "irl33t" from "nowhere" could ask for help. But for example, RandomBastard says he needs help, we could provide it etc.

I just feel that with every speciality, every connection we have, every person browsing here, we could have a network of people who could actually do good.

Oh and TdC, i promise, if a girl needs swaffling in Finland, i'll be sure to direct them to you. Covertly ofcourse ;)

Hensh the "vote on it" thing.

I ma be a bit "blue eyed", but i believe that the regulars here arent' the scum of the earth(even if we will all burn in hell together), so it might work.

The only way I could see it being managed is, x' person pays y ammount into a group account each month and then if such a situation arises they can request money. I see this as being such a small miniority of people being intrested that as soon as the first person requests money thats the fund wipped out.

Its a nice idea, but I doubt it'd ever work in reality.

I think individuals asking for help if they are in the shitter is better than some group thing that's bound to be abused and then shut down.

For example let's say I run out of bacon and garlic naan, I could post a help thread and a paypal donate option and people could contribute if they wanted to.

I'd more like to think of it as "x person is in trouble, YZ give money".

Not like a running fund, but more of a precicion bomb of money.

Oh I should note, this has sort of happened at the poker forum I use, and it's always ended horribly.

Eg one person posting all his wifes details/medical records of her fight vs cancer, him soliciting donations and then using them ( $20k+ ) to gamble with and never informed his wife.

Same poker forum did raise $100k+ for childrens inc charity though :)

That's very nice of you luv, but I think you're being a bit hard on yourself; you're not so fucking ugly that you'd convert a normal woman back into a virgin.

The fund thing is a bit like the way building societies initially started, but I can't see it working very well. The crash space thing would work a bit better, but tbh you would normally just PM a person you knew on the boards, and see if they were available. It might work though.

Fair points on the cash thingy.

Taht could probably be handled by someone just posting "i is in troubles".

Maybe a list of people and "general" locations could be done.

I say "general" 'cause ofcourse, let's not give out full addresses in public

Maybe a "volunteer" program, where you say "i'm down" and then you're added to a list of people who are "crash available".

On similar note, perhaps a "this guy knows this stuff" list could be done?

For example if someone is a doctor, layer, rocket scientist, one could ask them directly.

I think you might have volunteered Toht. The wiki is the obvious place to do this.

It is a good idea, even the cash to a point, however this would have to be monitored and audited regularly... (thank fuck I am not a box ticker accountant :p). i.e. one or two people would need to be responsible for the cash and another two to audit it.

It could also be used for having a yearly get together in different countries.

I do quite like the idea of it! But as Yoni and co have said if there was amoney side of things it would have to be looked after very very carefully!

Awful idea, but if anyone wants to help me live by sending me money, that would help. I bet I earn less than everyone else on these boards that isn't studentscum.
