Hey Guys

OK - here's the problem - and I've tried GOA's "help" system ;) plus I have searched the archive a bit, just in case!

I have been playing DAoC since early January. One of the computers on the network WAS a P2 700, 128Mb ram, 16Mb TNT2 graphics card. DAoC ran nicely. Before SI came out, I bought a new computer to replace this one (nooo, not for SI!). The new box is very pretty - nice motherboard, Athlon 2000+, 512Mb Ram, GeForce 2 MX400 with 64Mb... We now have two PCs with exact spec running DAoC.

ANYWAY :D I have installed SI on the first PC - very pretty, runs smoothly at 1280 resolution with everything turned on. The second computer however - nah. It loads all well and good, but after about 5 seconds, the lag indictor shows circle circle triangle - The framerates are low, and movement is sticky, juddery and choppy. This is before I move, in an area with no one around!

Long story short - drivers are all up to day, Direct X 8.1 is installed, network is fine, and have had much dialogue with GOA today, and tried installing the 4 in 1 drivers (no joy), chaging the AGP speed from x4 to x2, dropped resolution, turned shadows and water to classic, disabled Antialiasing and anisotropic effects, lowered the frequency and turned off all the "extra" in game options, and STILL this problem persists...

So please - someone - ANYONE - offer me advice!!! The latest I have had from GOA on Rightnow made me chuckle - and I quote:

"Well I have given you everything I could think off...
Some people seem to have troubles with Shrouded when other don't seem to. I cannot honnestly give you more informations. Maybe your computer seller could help you a bit about this feature.
REgards,"

Any ideas? Anyone at all?!

EDIT - OK, bit of confusion I think! Both computers SI is installed on are the Athlon 2000+/512Mb/GeForce 2 MX400 :) A couple of people have mailed me and told me the p2 700 is probably too slow to run it! Don't worry, that PC is stripped and out of comission :D

Thanks in advanced...

:D

You could try swapping bits of hardware from one machine to the other, that could tell you if it was a hardware fault.

In my experience these things are almost all to do with your video card drivers...

you might want to try defragging the hard drive too....
