I'm going to start a Briton friar and thought that putting 10 in str, dex and con would be the best move, however because i'll be use a 2-handed weapon would it be best to put some in qui.

Also how important is it to spec parry?

I wouldnt bother with Strength, Dex is vital stick in as much as you can spare and same with Con. Qui i think is used in the evade calcualtion so stick some in there too, if you are going to be healing then you may want to stick some in Pie instead.

I have 12 parry with + 11 from items and + 1 from RR. I also have master of parry 1 (soon to be 2). In PvE i parry as much if not more than i evade. It's very nice to have but not critical to get high for good performance so points can be better spent elsewhere. Also parry doesnt seem to be anywhere near as effective in RvR :(.

Friars spec guide in a nutshell

Points at start into Dex and Con, Quickness if you want a third. Str is irrelevant. Pie is of dubious worth.

Parry is very nice second line of defence, but don't forget it is checked after evade, so improving Evade (through Qui and RAs) is more likely to save your skin.

Spec rejuv to 25 or 33 (cos ppl will need your help and it's your job)

Staff to 34 or 39 (cos you will still kill very effectively, and max it after a few RRs+items)

Enhance to 35, 38, 44, or higher (depends if you want +71dex/qui -2nd best buff- or pay all the extra points for +75dex/qui -the top buff-)

10 dex con qui.

I think 25 rejuv is a huge waste of your points as its NOT your job to heal. Clerics will laugh at your healing skills.

I would recommend:

45 enhance
44 staff
15 rejuv
11 parry

Or something along those lines, my spec is:

49 enhance
44 staff
7 rejuv
5 parry

But you can't get that anymore.

If there are no clerics in the group (which happens a lot cos there aren't many) then it is a friars job, with 25 in rejuve I can easily take over as main healer in PVE and RvR (although not as good in rvr cos of no instas). I can also fight very well, it seems strange to me to roll a hybrid char then not take advantage of one of the facets. As far as i;m concerned the extra 5 levels in staff isnt really worth it either, it will bring up your base dmg a bit but as you can easily hit 50+ with items from 39 it doesnt make much difference. In my opinion it's also definately not worth it for the style either, a third in chain from a side position isnt going to be used in RVR at all and very rarely in PvE. You could argue that taking enhance to 45 is not good either cos of the small gain in dex/qui and af, so either go higher or lower (i chose 45 though against some peoples opinions). Each to their own though, that is the best thing about this class, the diversity. Each spec is very valid (even though i dont like some :p) and hard to gimp.

Before respeccing my friar had 43 rejuv 39 staff etc...

In no way could I be the main healer in any RvR group.

I am purely an RvR friar, the best resist buffs and the best damage, an effective caster killer. Yet I still manage to solo umbral hulks in df.

With 7 rejuv your heals are really only useful for yourself, or in emergencies.

Maximum a friar can heal for is 495, the lvl 43 rejuv spec major heal. A rejuv specced cleric heals for 726 /1068 with crit, also has a viable spread heal, group heal spell, AND instant heals. If you want to heal, be a cleric imo.
