just sitting at work, bored, and i wonderd if any of joo could suggest why i am getting such poor FPS.

my rig is:

Dual P3 750
Abit VP6
512mb ram
Chaintech GF2u

using det 12.41 and the latest via4in1s

i get 133fps in timedemo 1 demo127 ;/

i aint got no tweaks, all the stuff is at default settings (hardware wise) V-Sync is off thats about it :<

Have a look at http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Quake3/FPS_visuals.html It has lots of tweaks to get better FPS

You've got lots of RAM - stick your com_hunkMegs up a bit, will run a little better and stabler, but won't help fps though.

Other than that I can't see much else that would help, except lowering colour and texture to 16 bit. You may want to up your zonemegs and soundmegs too.

www.wazzerphuk.barrysworld.net/q3config.cfg is my somewhat messy OSP config if anyone wants a peek. 115 fps in timedemo with a Duron 750@950, 640mb RAM, ABit KT7a and a GF DDR.

i kinda got more fps on my main PC, 151, my m8 gave me a .bat which put it in real time and made sure it was using smp, but he said that i should still be getting more.

So what are the bestestest dets avaiable?

also, my 2nd PC is getting uber shit FPS as well (88fps) ;///

nice - config exchange -

note:see if you are playing ok and are happy then the next night you are playing pish .. do not change your config or any other settings - wait for a few days and try a few other things like cleaning your mouse/changing or cleaning your mouse mat or even just restart your computer.

your fps problem well try picmip or is it mipic 5
but the upset chaps have most of the answers

also will q3 client run both cpu's

Personally I wouldn't bother using higher than picmip 3. When you go above that you tend to see no increase in fps at all tbh.

I'll post me .cfg later tonight incase it's any use. I've spent a long time on it and get about 125 fps in timedemo1 on;

Umm am i the only one that thinks there is NO problem here? 133fps in that demo is pretty much exactly what you should be getting with that computer.

agreed.i get less than that with a bigger cpu. mind, i always have everything turned on full.
