Hey all

I made a first person shooter training game to be used as a training aid for people who play first person shooters. I reckon you guys would be the ideal testers as alot of you people seem to be casual FPS gamers, you never know, it might even improve your game a little bit if it works :)

Its very basic atm, no decent images yet, just paint drawn ones to be replaced at some point maybe, it should do the job for now though I hope.

This all started from a game that I made a while back which was just a plain box moving around the screen, it would tell you how well you did based on how long you kept the mouse on the target, was very basic but it helped get rid of my problem of playing very very bad for the first few games untill I'd gotten warmed up.

I've added a bit to it since then - the target moves better, switches direction from time to time to be a little less predictable and i've also added in a difficulty setting.

I've also added in a part where the moving target dissapears untill a target is clicked, to try to break up the monotomy of just following the mouse.

Anyways, not sure if its any good or not, was hoping you guys could give it a go and see if its any use at all :) here's the URL:

:D cheers, glad to see it works :)

tend to use it before I play CS, I always used to hate having to play crap for the first few games so I did this to kinda stop that a little bit :)

What percentage did you get ? and what difficulty were you on ? :)

LOL 41% on casual 2039 thats shocking, that was better that time tho i felt more comfortable following it.

I reckon 10 mins of this before playing a game will actually help

awww :) did you try the easymode difficulty setting? I'd hoped to get the easy difficulty easy enough for people who havent played fps before but I may have set it too high

what have you written it in c++ or c#?

Visual basic heh, I do know C++ and java (as well as delphi and a few other languages) but I started this in my first year of college, like, 5 years ago, at that point I only knew VB and did it half as a game aid and half as a test of my VB knowledge.

I started looking at it again as I've been doing some ASP work lately and enjoyed messing about with it so I just started adding bits here and there to see how I could improve it :)

Yea, I guess it might not be handy for everyone, alot of people who play FPS's very frequently might find that its more detrimental to thier game, but for me atm I only get to play an hour or two a week, so it helps me to stay in practice (it takes only 5 mins to do the accuracy game, but usually CS needs 30 mins at the least), so its helpful for me in that respect :)

Glad to hear its of use though!

A background that moved according to the mouse would help familiarize into the FPS scene. As such, it's not really that "fps oriented" since it's basicly a hold the cursor over stuff.

But it works as such too in a way.

The mouse cursor should rather be a crosshair style, but the idea of it being something clear(the cross icon) when it's "in line" is a good one.

If you select, say "hard mode" and start it, then switch to another mode and start while the other "game" is running, the red icon disappears, basicly needing to restart the whole thing.

Good idea, nicely put together, with some work it could be something relatively "big".

Some good points there, will definatley have to sort the mode switching mid-game, probably will disable the buttons when the game starts or something.

The background moving will be slightly harder to do in a way but I should think its possible, will have a look when I do more to the program and see what its like, had'nt really thought about that so it will be interesting to see what its like :)

Cheers for the feedback Tohtori :)
