Fps results on all ya computers

Ok, here goes, all i want is all your results for you computer.
give the exact spec of oyur comp.
try and do it this way.
q2 demo1 in different resolutions.
q3 demo1 in different resolutions
tribes avrg fps in an online game.
UT avrg fps results aganst 4 bots on dm morpheus.

At the mo i need to get a new cpu and mobo and it will prob be p3 450, i already have a tnt2 u, in me amd k6-2 450, but whenever i go into 3d mode useing the card, after about 2 mins of action, it just dies, either restarts, or just goes blank. It aint heat, but i think its the card trying to pull too much juice outa the ss7 shitty mobo.
Also it would be nice to know about UT and tribes useing a tnt2 U, caus i have a theory. The reason they run slow on a tnt2, is because due to the game been built around 3dfx glide engine calls, they need to be reinterpreted into either direct 3d calls, for UT, or opengl calls in the case of tribes. This would require a lot of cpu time to do this, and people with tnt's in shitty cpu machines always get crappy fps compared to a 3dfx system with same cpu. A faster cpu should be enough make it go faster. I just want to know weather a p3 450 would be fast enough to do all this reinterpreting of calls, without having a shitty frame rate, if it isnt fast enough, ill just have to get a v3.

Im on me C300a at 464/BH6/128megz/V3 3000 at the mo...

results for demo1 in q2 (its all ive got installed)

640*480 = 120fps
800*600 = 100fps
1024*768 = 75fps
1280*1024 = 55ish

C300a at 464 is about as fast as a PIII 450... personally, id go with a celeron 366@550 from www.clockspeed.co.uk

Celery ok right now, but from here on most new games are gonna support SSE yeah?, so you'll get better performance with P3 600?

I currently have a Celeron myself and have now ordered a P3 450 @ 600.
I would have liked to have bought it from www.clockspeed.co.uk but when ya go to the site theres nothing under the slot 1 heading?
So i had to order it from the states. Clockspeed could have had my order but missed the boat so to speak!

I'm not havin a go at ya, its just that i get so frustrated at the lack of availability in this country for overclockers.

I even had to order my alpha from the states!

Please, please can clockspeed increase their range of products. If they do they'll get my custom every time.

I intend to extend the range in the future but lack of finance is the main player here...

We'll see about SSE implementation in the future... I mean look at 3D NOW! - nice concept but has it really played a great affect yet overall with all the software that uses it?? I dont think it has...

Good point about the lack of OCing stuff in the UK... but importing it aint cheap and thats a main reason... plus US tax's are too low IMO = specially compared to what we have to fork out

Ive got a C366@578 too and thats far from slow... But, im moving into overclocked athlon territory soon - 500's @ 700 may be on clockspeed's site soon

If he cant then ya goin to have to wait about three weeks for ya CPU as mail from Europe to US is sooo slow!
My cheque to US took 12 days to get there!
Anyways my P3@600 will be here at the back end of the week

Should keep me goin till the 750BE's come out. Then me fancy goin for a 1ghz+!!! yeeah!
P3 750 (100mhz .18 micron) @ 138fsb + peltier + Alpha may = 1035mhz WHOOP!

at last i have my p3 sys
it is
jetway j-7bxan
and a p3 450
the mobo allows u to have the bus at 112/33
which is soo cool
i have it running at 504, stable, i got it to 600, no joke, 600, stable in windows, although it crashed in UT, which is the 44 mhz bus.

heres fps results

q3 demo1 - 640 x 480 = 65.1
"""" - 088 x 600 = 63.9
"""" - 1024 x768 = 53.9


UT with 5 bots on dm-turbine

640 x 480 = 72
800 x 600 = 65
1024 x 768 = 63

on medium skins, medium world, and all other settings on defaults
done running around like a mad man, not standing at a wall.

800 x 600 = 95
1024 x 768 = 70

Q2 done using blank config files.


anyway, p3's are cool for overclocking.

No it cant you plum. Get me concrete benchmarks to prove it and 3dmark 99 etc doesnt count... Use stuff like quake2, 3, UT etc... REAL gaming environments, not biased benchmark proggies m8.

Told u i was right m8 - my 300a at 504 compared to your 450 PIII at 504 is faster so that just goes to show u dont need to pay for performance.

u have a v3 whilst i have a tnt2
v3 has higher fill rate at lower res's, so thatll make a bit of difference, due to the different syncing of the two different cards.

Now i think the figures we are comparing are of the same kind if you know what I mean.. So then, my card churns out 333MTexels - 33 more than yours... what if i lower my clockspeed on V3 to match the same output as yours? I kinda think mine would still win dont you?

Anyway, this is a bit boring... you've brought the stuff now, but maybe you should have listened to others advice to save some money..
