guys plz could u tell me known php/mysql scripts that u ahve working etc on ur sites.

i am after a news script, and a forum builder i am a dabbler in the art so just point me in the right direction.

i know some smart arsed poo will say plz refer to page 183764 of the forum row 66 it tells u there. but i really aint got the time so any help would be ace. ta

phpBB is a very good free php/mysql forum(with a few customizations), newsphp for news(php)

The News PHP site isn't working as far as I know, maybe they moved, I don't know the new url to news PHP but if anyone does please tell me, for now you can download News PHP at http://www.gbg.bonet.se/atrax/stuff/nphp-v200-php.zip (I uploaded it to my server)

You dont want phpBB

You want to use Ikonboard.
www.ikonboard.com - the best free forums, very functional and comes with an easy to use installer.

Also, coranto is the best news script to setup.
Very easy to use and customisable.

Yep - I've installed phpbb and it's very good and simple to install

You just need a MySQL DB - thats it.

You just upload all the files and then run through the simple config script - piece of p*ss!!

BUT...lol
phpBB is good but not as "User Friendly" in my past experiance.
Later versions may but the older ones when I tried it wasnt.
Also, although Ikonboard does support MySQL Databases, they are not required to setup a forum.
So basically, if you have MySQL support, give phpBB a try, lemme know what its like
If not, use Ikonboard.
And I will try out that news script thanks.

phpBB v1.4.4, the latest release of phpBB is the only version I can download so I will get that but how did you get phpBB 2?!?
