here's how it happended.. was in australia (always is aint it hehe)

there was a tree on the playing field (bit like that one essex have on one of their grounds) and the ball got smashed into the branches of the tree and stuck there.. batmens ran like buggery and knocked up the runs..

meanwhile.. the fielders where trying to get the ball but failing.. so one buggers off and gets an axe.. thinking.. oh i'll chop it the tree down..

well that failed as well.. so someone brought in a shotgun (oh we'll shoot it out!!)

would u believe that actually worked? dislodged it.. great stuff.. but

fielding side didnt have the prescence of mind to catch the ball after it was dislodged hahaha crazy stuff - made me laugh
