Lucky indeed, that's the materials-only price for 13 retries.

I'm always willing to work on commission for people, but there is a 50% chance that a piece will cost more than the original quote. All my prices are based on 50 tries, plus a markup. People seem to prefer to buy from stock anyway.

Thanks, although saying that you got yours for 1p probably hasn't helped...

For the record, to make the jerkin ONCE costs 242g 46s 54c, and a crown costs 145g 21s 68c. Personally I would do 15 times base cost, giving:

Jerkin 3637g
Crown 2179g

It's fairly easy to see where the 13 times comes from. For example, leather jerkins cost 161g to make and resell for 122g. Assuming 2% chance for failures, you can show that the average number of retries to get an MP is the rather easy to guess 50. So based on 49 failures and 1 success it would cost

161 + 49 * (161-122) = 2072g

where the second sum is the cash lost making 49 failures.

Then 2072 / 161 = 12.87 which is 13 roughly. If I knew the resell cost on a studded jerkin I could work out the sum in that case, but you get my method to finding a fair price I hope.

Whoever sold that studded MP jerkin for 1 plat didn't do their maths or did Shanaia a big favour. I find it a bit cheeky to then say

"Good luck selling it at this price Caerdhros"

Why the hell does he need "good luck" to sell at what I think is a fair price? Those kind of comments are not what crafters want to see. Posting a statement like you did is making it tough for a crafter to sell at a fair price, as you make people expect to get closer to a 1p price. You could have at least done him a favour and do what I did, that is provide some way of assessing a fair price.

Please support your crafters!

I apologize Caerdhos.

I really meant wishing you the best when I said "good luck"

I'm NOT saying Caerdhos is selling his wares at a wrong price ..

I'm just saying I was freaking lucky...

And thanks for that calculation Venerable.

Hell I might buy that crown of you... so there it is.

BTW. Perfect example of how people can take written words and totally turn around the meaning of them... That's the problem if you can't see the expression on someone's face while he says the words. In this case my jaw was hitting my desk as I realised how lucky I was with the deal I got. Where Venerable assumes I have an angry look in my face telling people Caerdhos is ripping people off.

Thanks for that kind illustration Venerable

Yeah it's hard as the net does not convey any emotion...makes it tough sometimes to see where people are coming from. Thanks for clearing that up.

I wasn't saying that you were highlighting a rip-off...I think you highlighted your good fortune. I only wanted to provide some more substance to his price and to show what a bargain you got. Without this it is possible to arrive at the wrong conclusion.

I agree the crown is a bargain price.
