The 939 X2 3800+ is a real bargain at that price, that said I would be going conroe if I had more money to spend on new motherboard/memory. As it stands though the X2 3800+ is a great buy and a dirt cheap upgrade.

Mind you, these require the AM2 socket.. which is new :> If you got an AMD you're likely to have socket 939. In that case, ur bummed (like meh). And would need to buy a new mobo too.

AMD has or is going to stop production on 939 cpu's (final decision), so there's no real low prices there.. and likely to be sold out fast.

There are 939/940 CPUs on that list with about the same price drop as AM2 ones has.

Personally I'll go for X2 4600+ (939), dirty cheap :p

Reason it's so cheap is the 512 L2 cache

The single core 4000+ is at an incredible price.

My bad, thought 4400+ and everything above has 1MB cache.
its like the single core ones, the 3000 -3500 have 512, the 3700 has 1m and then the 3800 has 512.... 4000 and on has 1m

Confusing, 2x 4400 is still the top dog if you've got the money otherwise stick with the 3800 2x
