ok, have been fed up with q3 running shit on my modem, so i looked at some tweak site, and i think i have found the answer, u need to put the following in an autoexec.cfg file in the base folder

seta rate "4200"
seta snaps "20"
seta cl_maxpackets "30"
seta cl_packetdup "1"

that will defo help 56'kers.

makes me ping at 150 - 250 on BW's CTF servers. in fights.

you can have your rate higher if you've got stac compression turned on...

i put that one in for software compression, but it just made the ping higher in firefights. the standerd hardware compression is better.
