FLF, cheating...

What's the situation with cheating in FLF?

Can we expect the same kind of situation that has developed with regards to CS, or is that specific to CS and not the Half-Life engine in general?

There are some cheats knocking about, which the FLF peeps are aware of and will patch, as with any mod.

As with all games on BW Servers just try to find an Admin to view the "nasty little person" in action.

And we will strike down upon them with great vengence and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy the game, and they will know we are the lords when we lay down our vengence upon them .... or something

Things like this really annoys me, the people who cheat are doing themselves no favours at all. Is that the only way they can getthe upper hand, it's pathetic!

FLF is fresh and fun at the mo. I hope it does not get a reputation like CS is at the mo where cheating is happening on every server

I don't think cheating could get that bad on FLF. There'd be very little advantage from most cheats anyway. The lack of 1 hit kill weapons means that even with some sort of aim-bot a single player still wouldn't stand a chance against 3 or 4 opposition players working together.
This would apply to seeing through walls as well, so what if they knew someone was there. In FLF its fairly obvious where the defenders will be, defending the cap points!

I'm not saying that these cheats exist or are in use, but just that because of the emphasis on teamwork in FLF, one individual cheater isn't going to see much benefit from cheating.

With regards to the attitude towards CS's reputation about cheating. It REALLY gets on my tits that people who don't even play CS slag it off because of "all" the cheaters. I play the game, far too much really , and very rarely actually see people cheating. Fair enough you get the knobheads on the FF on server TKing etc which is a pain in the arse but you get immature players in all games, not just CS.

I think the CS cheating problem is blown out of all proportion by a lot of people, there are a lot of cheats out there it seems but people who use them are every much in the minority in my opinion. I think the problem of people accusing good players of cheating when they(the accuser) gets killed is just as bad and definitely more rampant on servers.

I guess the two things go hand in hand though...

CS cheats

I'm afraid your very naive or very trusting grimbler, either way you are incorrect. Cheating is CS is absolutely rife. I saw my first invisibility cheat the other night, some guy was dissappearing and shooting everyone point blank then reappearing and starting over. Skin Hacks, wall hacks, sticky aimbots its dire the depths some ppl will stoop to. CS really has not worse since 1.0 its hard to find a good pub game these days, let alone a good and clean pub game.

Jesus it takes you all of a 1 min to find a site with working cheats for CS. One night me and 4 other players on are team were following this guy who could see through walls, he was on our team so it wasn't a moaning thing, i just followed the guy around because i knew he wasn't gona lead me into a camping terra, the point is the Other Team never called him a cheater once, He Was Cheating though, i and the others watched him shoot five guys through the roof on highrise, and no they were nowhere near the roof lights. The next few maps i stayed in the game, and he never got called a cheater once I just made sure i was on the same team Sure there are many players that don't cheat that get called cheats, i myself used to get called a cheat all the time when i played CS, but to say it is rare is a joke, CS is the perfect game for cheating, 1 shot kills, shots that go through walls, fullbrights, spikes, there all killers in CS, in quake spikes, fullbrights, don't mean shit, the only thing that does is a bot

In the time it took me to make this reply to my above post, I joined BW14 CS maps only to speak to a clan mate. Guy had an invis cheat and was laughing becos we voted him - he rejoined and the server emptied. Is there nothing BW can do about this??

What about giving out rcon (or if not full rcon - then an admin kick utility - I know that CS has this stuff - our clan runs a CS TFC and FLF server now) to certain trustworthy players? Namely me

gah ffs - didnt read Kurt's post before I hit post. Kurt, playing with a cheat (and using his advantages to benefit yourself) is fecking lame mate. Vote the cheats off, make ppl aware of them. Dont just accept it as part of CS or everyone will think its condoned and not cared about. I've been on Pubs where cheats have been verbally abused until they have left. At least make an attempt to get shot of them ffs.

Lame bud, me and the others DID shout up, and call the bastard a cheat, but the other team was full of newbies, who 1 either didn't understand, or 2 were just stupid, either way they never said anything back. When the others cleared off, i stayed in the game just to see if anybody would spot him, as it happens They Didn't. I don't like or support cheats, i h8 the fuckers, ffs if i just spammed for 3 maps running calling the guy a cheat, it would be MORE likely I would be the one voted from the server, for being a moaning Cunt

I must be niave then, or a really good player (which I doubt) coz I either don't see the cheaters or they still can't beat me with their cheats. I dunno, I must just be lucky and miss the cheats on servers.

I honestly don't see much cheating on the servers.

This of course doesn't stop people accusing me of cheating though....

Anyone caught cheating _will_ be _permanently_ banned. I especially take an interest in banning them since I'm the server admin and also play the game.

Maybe something to that effect should be in the motd?

the guy was indeed Hollowman, respec for banning the m0ng, tho cheats usually have access to 50 Won ID's :/

Moaning at them does not seem to help, they are always thick skinned and will repel any abuse because they think its funny to piss people off.
The first time I saw the invis cheat was on a server where this guy knew I was hiding (not camping lol) behind these crates and shot through them. I thought at the time that he had altered the radar because there was no way he knew I was there. Its even more alarming when your spectating and you see the same thing because it looks even more obvious.
