Finally had enough. After the Brits decided I would purchase some music. Bought 3 albums, 1 of which was heavily DRMed. Wankers. I have to buy my music on CD and then rip to FLAC. Why? As I do not know of any online store that sells FLAC downloads. Seriously I fucking hate the MPIAA (aka Mafia), RPIA (or whatever they are known as) and would rather new bands release their music direct so all my money goes to them.

So, any FLAC online stores or do I still need to resort to buying CDs and ripping them?

I buy them, then download the FLAC if I can find them. Otherwise, I'll just have to spend the time ripping it myself.

You download the FLAC? From where? Legally or not?

Simply put Deebs, there isn't an "iTunes of lossless" out there. I understand that iTunes was going to offer lossless DRM free (in the way of ALAC) eventually, but I don't know what has happened to those plans.

There are a few places, but you'll not find music for the masses there. Try:

Linn - http://www.linnrecords.com/catalogue.aspx

B&W - http://www.bowers-wilkins.co.uk/Society_of_Sound/Society_of_Sound/Music/lossless-sound.html

HD Tracks - https://www.hdtracks.com/

Failing that, get the CD and rip it to FLAC as you've said.

Edit: looks like it's up the the labels and not Apple - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2652780?start=0&tstart=0
