If I had that much money I'd do some amazing things with it. You could make real changes with that cash, and still have enough loose change to fund revolutions and buy small islands.

How the buggary ARSE did Phil Collins and 'Frasier actor' John Mahoney get in there? What have they DONE?

The rest are pretty obvious, but what about these two? Frasier actor and international political assassin? 80s smash pop sensation, composer of numerous film scores and head of the Columbian/Cuban Cocaine Alliance?

I think its sick that morons who are blessed with the dexterity to kick a ball or people who can act/sing are paid squillions whilst people who cure diseases and teach today's youth are paid peanuts (if they are lucky)!

Me? Bitter? Hah.

grapes and sour are two words. If you don't like it, do something about it, like they did.

hmm not really. I personally couldn't give a toss how much Sir Paul earns per second, but I do care very much that my gf, who is a nurse and does her damnedest to care for the sick earns bloody FA and a good mate who is a doctor earns not much more.

You have a serious hard on for footballers ( I do realise that this was not the subject of the thread). They are overpaid thugs (most of them) who need a good slapping.

Take a look at Keane and Keone to see that it's generally the shit bastards in life who end up better off. Call it sour grapes if you like, but personally I couldn't care less.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending football players' earnings, but Beckham, the highest earner, gets around £10 million and he does actually work bloody hard for it and he is actually a skillfull player.

Paul McCartney on the other hand is earning at least four times as much and has done so for many years, accumulating a personal fortune of over £700 million, yet all he did this year was one short month long tour during which he earnt triple Becks' yearly wages, hardly compares as a schedule.

I'd rate Beckham as a world class footballer, but McCartney is not, and has never been, a "world class" performer or composer, most of his hits have been collaberations and he has achieved pathetic success on his solo career, its all purely gained on his Beatle's heritage and his shareholdings in Apple Corps etc.

To top it all McCartney likes to appear as a "ordinary working bloke", his arrogance makes me puke.

Good on 'em all tbh.

Frankly - if I could get away with making 35 million a year for doing f*ck all then I would.

Anyone who's pissed off about it is just jealous IMHO :)

You are sadly wrong.

Becks n Posh live their opulent lifestyle on a fraction of McCartney's earnings, and they don't have anywhere near as much in the bank. Yeah, I could certainly live like Becks does and absolutely love it, counting my supercars in the garage every day, getting another tattoo for my arse, etc, so maybe I can be jealous of him.

But McCartney has all that and more, and you start to seriously wonder what the f*ck he does with it all, he could live the same life as Beckham and have spare change to fund a few hospitals or universities too, that's what I'd do.

It's not jealousy, its the awsome realisation that the world is populated with selfish arrogant pricks like Sir Paul, it gets you down a bit you see.

Hang on:

  1. He was half of the one of the most succesful songwriting duos ever
  2. He had massive success with Wings, and rightly so :)
  3. He's a shrewd operator, and has earned that money with his head
  4. How do we know he isn't a philanthropist? Maybe he does it on the quiet
    [/list=1]

Also, what makes you call him arrogant? You've probably never met him, spoken to him, or spoken to anybody at length who knows him well enough. I don't see many skeletons coming out of the closet, do you? If you want to bitch about someone, bitch about the Saudi princes with their wealth, at least Macca has made a positive contribution to this world with the music he has produced.

Just think how much money he'd be making if he wasn't a complete twat and letting Michael Jackson buy the rights to the Beatles backlog.

He didn't let him, and Jackson sold those rights to Sony, who I believe are now selling them back to Macca at a reduced price.

Or something.

This guy comes from nowhere makes as much money as he can in an honest legal way and a lot of you are complaining about it?

It makes no difference if he is an arrogant twit or not. He has a right to earn that amount of money and has the right to spend it any way he likes...

He doesnt have to give any to charity/hospitals or anything as thats his freedom to do so.

You may dislike that but I dont see anything wrong with it as anyone else is entitled to do exactly the same thing if they want to. They may not be able to do this and not many can but thats life.

:)

Dysfunction is correct.

If i could earn that much for doing no work then i would.

I would build a mile high tower out of ivory, DeBeers diamonds and dolphin skin. I could sit atop it like a king, laughing at all the paupers.

I play a mean game of squash and the such, yet you dont see me, or even the world class players, earning as much as beckham?

Why is it disgraceful? If they weren't getting the money, someone else would be - the board, for instance.

People go to football to watch their club, the success of which depends upon the performances of the players. Enough people go that companies want to use football to sell their products through advertising. Television companies want to pay the clubs so that they can also earn money from advertising.

So if these companies are prepared to pay the going rate for this advertising, why should the players not benefit? After all, no players = no games = no revenue = no football.

If you want to blame anybody for player's wages, blame the chairman of whatever club, he/she is the one that makes the decision.
