Firewall tutorial

Can anyone give pointers to a decent resource explaining how to set up a hardware firewall?

I'm using a DLink DSL-604+ ADSL (combined Modem/Router/Firewall/4 port Switch) and would like to know the best way to configure this for a 4 node home network.

The manual isn't much help.
