I'll put this here because it might get a bit more notice.

If anyone finds that they have an instance of Firefox running that they cannot close from the task manager - not a visible window, just a background process - can they please follow this link:

I have a sneaky suspicion that this is a virus, and I'm now working to remove it from my system. Note that nothing has detected it thus far.

It appears to be a hidden file in the windows root directory called smhost.exe

I am quickly losing faith in Firefox, with it's super bloated memory hogging, increasing number of exploits, number of websites that simply don't work or look right (i don't care if they're not coded to standard) and it's incredible fucking annoyance where copy/paste just doesn't work (copy a piece of text on one web page, open another firefox tab/window, do a ctrl+v to paste into a Google search .. and it seems to have 'lost' the copied item from the clipboard).

I'm not saying IE is any better, it's just the Firefox is pretty shit too imo.

Thats because you have copied a new line at the end of the text, so when you paste into the google box it just pastes the last line, when it next happens, paste what you have in the clipboard into notepad and you'll see what I mean

my firefox has a "google search" feature on the right mouse button when you hilight text, can't remember if this is standard or an extension, but sounds like you may find it handy

I've had this before. Thanks for the link. Always had to close it by ending the process itself.

You can get extensions btw which open current web pages in Internet Explorer - Handy for those which don't work properly in Firefox. I believe the one i use is called "IE View".

That comes as standard: ‘Web Search for…’ or something the menu reads. There is also an extension (ConQuery?) which lets you pick any of your installed search engines from the main search box.
