edit:

i work with win 2K..(should be the same with winxp
so .. C:\Documents and Settings\<your login name thing>\Application Data(hidden dir\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

you get some dirs there.; delete all but <seriesofnumber>.default (IF YOU ARE USING THE DEFAULT OFCxDD) startup firefox, solved

you can find your bookmarks there to in bookmarks.html

It's because Firefox doesn't always quit properly. So, there's still an instance of it running on your system.

You can do one of two things.

1) Reboot the computer.
2) Kill the specific process.

If you don't know how to do 2), do 1) instead. After that, you can start Firefox again with your bookmarks. :)

For future refrence to you or anyone else.

Press Control-Alt-Delete.

Click "Processes" Tab.

Select "Firefox.exe" in list.

Click "End Process".

Restart firefox.
