How absolutely brilliant is this series??

Totally passed me by on original release but with the rave reviews of last year's Serenity movie I picked up the series (£10.99 from Amazon Jersey) and was stunned by how watchable it is.

For those that don't know - it is basically a Western in outta space following the travels of the crew of a Firefly class ship who go around doing small time jobs - kinda like Elite :D

As you may also know - the show got canned after the first season in the US :eek6: but they still went and made the movie.

Top notch stuff.

Everyone I've lent/shown it do has agreed. The series takes a few episodes to get into then you're so into it that you're gutted it got cancelled.

Unfortunately it's one of those secrets that peopel have to be introduced to by someone who has seen it. The TV series didn't have great viewing figures but the DVD sales rocketed as people we're introduced to it by word of mouth. It sold so many that the backers agreed to make a film. Unfortunately the film, despite receiving excellent reviews and being pretty damn good, had appalling sales at the box office. DVD sales of it seem to be goign well so there may or may not be any further releases.

Great show. Sadly it was sheduled in a terrible slot on U.S. and ending up being on against Monday Night Football and some other big shows iirc. Basically Fox buried it from day one, the saw that the sci-fi genre was in decline and took the easy way out by giving the show no chance to grow. Twats. They canned Futurama as well because it never pulled the same kind of audiences as The Simpsons, how stupid is that?

They also aired the episodes in the wrong order, which was pretty gay.

This has been going on for years, Americans always love messing around with somebody else's creative output. Just do a search for Brazil and how the US distributor fucked the film up massively, just like Bladerunner.

I've just introduced my Girlfriend to Serenity and she's loving it as I knew she would ;)

I still want one of Jayne's hats though.
They canned Futurama as well
There are going to be some TV movies done of Futurama soon.

Like the 'Family Guy' situation all over again, hopefully it will push them to ask Joss for a second season.

Awsome series, excellent DVD sales but we are not going to see a second film or a revival of the series either.

I got over this along time as i did with Angel when that was cancelled way before its time, we kept hearing but there will be a mini series.. fuck the mini series we want a full fucking season.

Mean while Charmed is in its what? 9th season now? stupid fucking Americans.
