Fair play to Finland. Fielding an uber-nerdy GWAR-alike rock band in Eurovision was a stroke of genius. I was laughing my tits off :)

(Tip: Press the red button during Eurovision for subtitles. Some classy lyrics.)

Oh, it was Eurovision time again?

Sometimes not having a TV really does have its advantages.

I thought everyone tried as hard as possible to not come first so they didn't have to go through with the embarrassment of hosting it the year after?

Lordi won?! Awesome, looks like XFM succeeded in their campaign to give Hard Rock Hallelujah the recognition it deserves :D

Our annual Eurovision party went down a treat, my sweepstake draws mostly sucked though, I drew Switzerland, Israel, Turkey - and luckily for me what I considered to be the second-best song of the night, Romania.

Lithuania deserved something, that song was genius. Watching Harry Hill's long lost brother spazzing out on stage with his dance was brilliant.

I flipped over a couple of times during the voting (I was watching Airheads on the other side; "crap movies I love TM") and I couldn't believe how blatant the 'voting for your mates' has got; I think I saw Latvia give Lithuania, Sweden and Finland top marks, and Albania give Macedonia and Greece top marks; they were all at it! I didn't hear the Brit song, but it doesn't matter, it could have been the best song in the world, ever, and it wouldn't have won, because they let the public vote now (who clearly can't be trusted) and we're not mates with anyone in Europe. Our best vote came from Ireland I think, which says it all as it was probably people from the North.

I do like the fact that something so utterly ridiculous has won though; they kept flashing to them during the voting and I thought Chronos had joined the EU. Brilliant.

Because there are now no roaming charges between The Republic and the North, loads of people switch to which ever side is cheapest, so there are plenty of people in Northern Ireland with phones bought in the Republic and vice-versa. Its an endemic problem for loads of companies, as people play the currency game. Don't tell me you don't do it?

I dont know anybody in the North that does this. Surely they would need an adress in the Republic to get a Republic phone and then receive the bills? Remember that there are only no roaming charges for Republic phones coming to Northern Ireland not the other way round unfortunately.

Im not saying it isnt done but if it is Im sure they are in the extreme minority. Also those using a 'politcal' vote to support the UK are hardly likely to be the people with Republic phones tbh, but then again I only live in the country and probably dont know as much about my own society as you

Correctamundo.

The number we get to ring is exactly the same as yours DaGaffer :)

That said you can get RTE 1&2 on satellite, but then we'd be making an international call to vote in a competition that is by and large pointless.

That said, I wanted Finland to win as well.

:)
