so which one will you get this year? The Fifa series has gone through some major chances last year, and it seems to become better and better, while PES only is going through some minor changes each year.

im personally going for both

PES ofc FIFA will always be the same no matter how much they dress it up Fifa is just too famed amongst players for 10-0 wins because its just so EASY to score.

PES is the winner for me the insane goals you can score on it make it all the worth while.

I usually play fifa with my mates, and thats what im planning on doing with 08 aswell. I cant teach them PES on a day :)

FIFA is changing so much more than PES though. The "1 new thing a year" I used to laugh at from fifa games, has now moved to PES. I want a new master league, new modes, new multiplayer stuff etc. We're getitng none of that :/

still though, im fucking addicted to PES for a year, once I begin playing it.

Why fix something that aint broken buddy?

That is Fifas problem every year they add something new and take something away i mean taking the tricks away in the last game is some sad pathetic joke tbh.

What new thing could they actually add to PES? apart from the graphics and licences the gameplay is superb as always and at the end of the day when it comes down the nitty gritty that is what counts Fifa is the type of game you play for a month and trade it in PES is for life.

they could add lots of stuff. Check my post somewhere above :)

also, they didn't remove anything in the last Fifa. They build up a whole new game. Did you even try it? The ball is finally a free unit, which means it doesn't stick to the players feets etc. It feels alot like PES in many ways.

and now that you mentioned the tricks. Where are the PES ones? there are a few, but they're generally useless. This is however, one of the reasons for buying the new Fifa.

Your right tricks are generally useless but used correctly? can be pretty devastating.

Yesterday i was playing some guy i was about 14 yards outside his box when i got the ball now instead of running at his entire defence like a loon i dragged the ball back 3 times until Rivaldo was on a run through the defence and put a killer through ball to him and he scored :D

From the videos i have seen for FIFA its just too easy to score ive seen videos of people blasting it from way out of the box and scoring its just pathetic.

do it babel style instead. Just run up on the sides of them.

But yeah, Fifa 07 was a tiny bit bugged. It's nothing they cant sort out in 08 though - and dont tell me you dont want those tricks I just posted, in PES.

We haven't seen whats in PES yet and tbh i don't really care it could be exactly like PES6 with PES8 on it and i'd still buy it.

I am really looking forward to seeing how the new AI is in PES and also playing my beloved Rivaldo with AEK :D

Roll on october.

the only thing i hope they impove in PES is the difficulty at scoreing from free kicks, only ever scored a hand full... unless i'm really bad at it.

360 version was alot harder then the PS2 version at scoring free kicks and i'm pretty glad about it because PS2 players admit knocking free kicks in for fun and say the 360 version requires alot of skill and practice.

You know what you'll be playing mostly m8 why waste your money on Fifa when you damn well know your a PES nut and nothing compares?

I've explained my reasons already ;) but yeah, as someone said on some random forum:
I have been playing ISS since i was a wee nipper, and last year i gave FIFA 07 a shot on the 360. Must say i was pleasantly suprised, but I still played Pro to death

I pretty much agree with him. Fifa is getting very good, but I'll end up playing pro evo the whole year.

I've not played Fifa since Fifa 98 many years ago..

Only got into the last two iterations of ProEvo, but its awesome.. but little really changed between the two. Hopefully they'll do more with the new one to wow me, as I'm curious about this Fifa business.

I play it primarily with mates and sometimes the odd bit of singleplayer as its one of those games you can just pick up.. I'm not very good, ProEvo on regular difficulty gives me considerable trouble - which upsets me on several levels :x I turn it down when I cba with a major struggle.. Unfortunately, if you turn it down a notch, it becomes a cakewalk.. but c'est la vie.

Also, I find scoring on Pro can be quite luck based depending on where your attackers are and what particular direction they're moving in when you try to cross, shoot, etc..

.. And I find the "run down the side and in, pass back to all-too-frequently-open attacker who rams it into the open goal" tactic occurs far too often online/against any human - it looked good for a while, but then just got boring and annoying when its used so much and you know how silly it is in reality.

I play it none stop every day and i am even considering not bothering with Halo 3 because i just know once Pro evo is out that is it i will be on it none stop.

I am currently in the process of trying to make a video of my goals but its quite annoying recording it on my n73 (good quality on the video btw) and transferring it to the PC ^^

Running down the side lines and cutting it back its known as cut backing a highly annoying tactic used mostly by the barca boys.

I play Olympiacos exclusively because Rivaldo can score some omfg goals that just stun you once you have pulled one off.

Very funny when u beat some fool who picked Inter/barca and you beat them 4-0 :D

I play player matches mostly because you'll find people pick the crappy teams and are more creative like trying flick ons/lobs etc etc very fun matches :)

The thing i don't like about Fifa is it seems very scripted in the way that goals are scored from certain angles and once you find the angle its a cake fest that ends in stupid 12-14 goals on LIVE which is just unrealistic.

Pro Evo will never be topped by Fifa how many people are wondering if Pro Evo 2008 will smash sales records like PES6 did?

Pro Evo will never really change much because it does not need to.

ofc :D i always aim for prolific goals in a match love smashing it in from 25 yards.

Rivaldo is excellent for lobs aswell.

Am really lookin forward to playin the old boy in PES 8.

Still love my free kick if anyone wants to see it since they very hard to score in the 360 version :D

Just lately when i am in matches i am always aiming to do tricks and stuff flick ons etc makes the match far more exciting.

..omfg at that free kick, played :)

I have no idea with free kicks, I find that even if I manage to reproduce the same power etc., the height etc. changes - I can't find consistency with the power bar, etc. for some reason :S

Any tips?

It also upsets me how rarely you see a bicycle kick :)

I know it needs to emulate real football.. but its frigging fun to score a lot of goals sometimes ;)

I suppose if there was a bicycle kick every game though, people would just stop caring, so its probably a good thing that it's pretty rare.

When you say flick ons, what do you mean? School me please ;]

I'll give Olympiacos a go, been wanting to have a spin with Rivaldo :x

No tips i'm afraid it's based mostly on luck i just practice alot in training on free kicks etc.

Flick ons? well i just meant like little back heels also sometimes if your player is positioned right when a ball comes in from the air he will lift his leg up so its sort of in a backwards L shape and flick it on to another player.

Alas, staying in uni accommodation again with a pretty weird net set up - not sure if my Live will work, though I'll try it out sometime soon.

Will need to renew my Gold membership if it does lol :)
