its a top game, got it, im up to about 40-50 hours iirc, not played in about a week tho- up to Arcedes or w/e it was. Very fun, and love the battle layout, far better and more challenging than the usual turn taking way since FF10. Graphics are also very good. The fight scenes gone back to FF7 type really, where its more down to the speed you pick each attack and stuff (Gambits rock!) hehe.

imo could be the best one out yet, tho they'd struggle to beat FF7 and FF10! Two of my favorites.

Basch/Ashe/Vaan grp ftw! :drink:
Vaan/Bunnygirl/Ashe here. Can't beat girls with bunny ears... even being pixels :<

Theres 32 ordinary hunts and 13 extraordinary hunts best part of the game is fighting with Gilgamesh (first fight 120k hp or so - second fight 500k or so) Hell Wyrm (9million hp) and finally the ultimate fun endurance fight! Yiazmat (50,000,000 hp) takes 1-2 hours to kill it... lol ;) few pre quests needed to even be able to accept the contract for yiazmat tho
Heh, 50 billion hp? :| Bloody hell. I've got Vaan at level 42-43 or so now, with decent gear, full platinum set, and he's doing like 3k a hit or something. So that's like 17.000 hits needed to finish the twat off then, eh? :x I'll save that one for later :p
I've got about 60 hours played now, and I'm only just past Mt. Bur-something, whatever the place was called, in some hunters camp at the coast. How far through the story do you reckon that is? I don't think I've spent well over 10-15 hours actually following the story, I've just mainly done sidequests and a lot of afk'ing :p
I _r_e_a_l_l_y_ (aye, a lot) hope they re-release FF7 for the PS3, as that technical demo they showed at what must've been the E3 looked well promissing :D Even if they wouldn't add any special content, it'd be nice to go through the game with an entirely different view on things, as well as lacking some of the bugs I encountered which bothered the shit out of me.
Anyway, it took me like well over an hour to kill the final boss in FF8 aswell, and that was just spamming Squall's ultimate shit all the time too, whatever it was called.
Also, I'm still not impressed by the storyline in FF12, but that's about the only real letdown, as the gameplay turned out to be alright. And it's kind of hard for me to judge the storyline aswell, as it kind of depends on how far through I am. Say, if I'm like 90% through the storyline and I'm experiencing it the way I am, that's pretty wank, but if I'm only getting started, then it could all get a lot better... basicly.

Yiazmat is a very fun fight ;> I always make saves of the hard bosses so I can fight em over and over... I didn't bother with any uber weapons for yiazmat.. truth be told i didn't even bother finishing bazaar items off until yiazmat was dead lol... below is what i used for Yiazmat

Fran - lvl 98
Weapon: Zodiac Spear (150 attack power)
Helm: Magepower Shishak
Armour: Maximillian
Acess: Genji Gloves (improves chance of multiple hits)

Basch - lvl 99
Weapon: Deathbringer
Shield: Genji Shield
Helm: Genji Helm
Armour: Genji Armour
Acess: Bubble Belt (Doubles hp)

Asch - lvl 97 (or 98)
Weapon: Staff of the Magi
Helm: Circlet
Armour: Glimmering Robes
Acess: Sage's Ring (Cuts mp use to half and absorbs holy)

Fran Gambits:

Ally any: Arise
Ally any: Esunaga
Ally status stop: Remedy
Ally status doom: Remedy

Self: Bubble
Self: Bravery
Self: Hastega

Foe: Lowest lvl
Foe: Nearest

Basch Gambits:

Ally any: Arise
Ally any: Esunaga
Ally status stop: Remedy
Ally status doom: Remedy
Self: Decoy

Self: Bravery
Self: Protectga

Foe: Lowest lvl
Foe: Nearest

Ashe Gambits:

Ally below 50%: Curaja
Ally any: Arise
Ally any: Esunaga
Ally status stop: Remedy
Ally status doom: Remedy

Self: Bubble
Self: Faith
Self Shellga

Foe: Holy-weak Holy
Foe: Dark-weak Darkga
Foe: Ice-weak Blizzaga
Foe: Lightning-weak Thundaga
(thunder and ice are the most common damages i've found so i use them rather than fire etc.. if a mob is fire weak i just manually cast firaga etc)

worked perfectly fine - btw only use decoy for hard mobs :p usally when i was farming i just removed decoy and set both meleers to assist anything down that targetted the healer

Tbh, saying that that is the only let down is soft.

When u play a rpg u play it mainly for the story imo, the gambits werent bad, but got boring quite fast when u actually got at a point nothing was a challenge anymore.

no story and character background in ff12. makes the game 1 of the weakest ff's i played, and with that not saying it isn't good just that it 1 of the weakest.

Been awhile since i played ff8, but least that had a nice story.
Ill replay all my ff's at some point when i got the time for it.

Hah, finally someone agreeing that FF8 was good :p I've only ever heard people going on about FF7/FFX, while FF8 has always been my favourite.
Anyway, I suppose you've got a point. I think the gameplay is decent enough, but killing random monsters and doing hunts and whatever gets boring after a while, and the story should be the main thing in a RPG, or you might aswell go for some random adventure or action title.
I've just gotten to the bit where you enter Archades, story-wise, and I can't say there's any point in the game so far which I'll really remember in a few months, let alone in years to come, while I've still got the stories from previous FF titles stuck in my memory, at least partially.
But hey, let's just hope FF13 turns out to be somewhat more interesting :p
And I think one of the things that ruined (tho that might be a bit of a strong word) FF12 for some of the original fans was that they tried to make the game more mainstream. It's not like the previous games were all that hard to get story or gameplay-wise, but FF12 makes it all a bit too obvious, in my opinion.

FF8 had the best story ever came on the series imo. I do think aswell that Junction system was superb. The only annoying part for me was when i set out to acquire bahamut and then Eden...
U beat the first red dragon ( o h dear... ) then another dragon comes... omg.. and then on the top u get Bahamut.. U are very uber and u beat that too !! The battle is over and u see your pretty new icon GF been listen in your GF window... Suddenly infront of you - just 2 steps away u see a lovely save point and u think OH GOD my life is saved ( it appears only after u killed bahamut and if u have the see hidden ability equiped ) .. U try desperatly to move there and secure your success when suddenly. BOOOOOM another random fight... lets see what it is.. oH nice red dragon.... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM.

And there goes the famous phrace - he smashed the joy pad out of the window.. i Know i did at least.

:p

Yea :) ure right bout ff12.
it was pretty straightforward. and the biggest challenges in the game wasnt realy a big challenge, was just a mob u needed to grind down.
Also while gambits are nice, wtf was it with all the buffs going down so incredibly fast.

And as a final note, they mae the best magics way to late availeble and the game shouldnt allow ppl to get to certain places where u can just get extreemly high lvl before actually needed to go there, like i was lvl 50 where the mobs were lvl 30 with the main walkthrough.

O well, its a good game on its own, but in the series, far from the best :)

Aye, the rebuffing is a pain in the ass :| I like to keep bubble/haste/protect/faith and a bunch of other stuff up on my characters, but then they stop to rebuff every other second, which is annoying. Not to mention the amounts of mana you end up spending just to be ready for a fight :p
And I've had the same thing with the levels. I haven't even really focussed on levelling up, but I just explore and clear the areas of monsters when I happen to pass by for some quest or another. Like, where I'm at story-wise, the enemies are only mid thirties/early fourties, while my characters are over level fifty.
Bosses aren't much of a challenge either, mainly due to the level difference, and the main thing is that they've got a ton of HP's. You don't even have to worry about dying, as long as you've got some character casting the ocasional cura/curaga, and then you're basicly stuck on /attack for a couple of minutes :p Unless you use the mist charges, of course, I actually oneshot a few of the bosses that way, which is quite funny really.

I only used mist charges in the begining or to try tackle a mob i couldnt handle without it like, the dino in the first area :p. But i kinda stopped using them quite early. Also the license board aint bad, but i dont always like that each character can do/get the same stuff. All my boards were complerted quite early when i did some fast LP farming in the mines ect.

Wait till u get to the end-boss hes like no challenge at all :p.
