I just saw a post on the Blizzard boards again about female armor being skimpy, offending etc. Im not talking tauren here

I don't think its that bad (well at least not the majority of the armor  ), it fits the game style, it fits the models. At least there is a very clear difference between males and females next to the shape of the body. Less coverage means less protections isn't an issue either, it's a fantasy game. Who says magic doesn't play a part and if you want to get realistic, looking at the models they wouldn't last long in full plate armor. Maybe the physically weaker females (looking at the models) are faster/more agile making up for the lower coverage.

Since it seems to be a returning issue on the blizzard boards I was wondering what the freddyshouse people thought about this.

In Lineage 2 when you cast a spell as a female elf the mini skirt kinda floated up in the wind and you could see her white frilly pants. Superb attention to detail! Not that I ever spent any time trying to get the perfect viewing camera angle or anything..

it amazes me still that people complain about skimpy armour on a character, but it is ok to go around killing people...

Anyway, if you really feel like it you can take off all your armor off and run round in your pants. Cant get skimpier than that!

Guarantee its the same people who cried to Bioware when they designed Aribeths armour for NWN. Fucking laughable really.

I think they actually removed it, at least i can't seem to find it anymore.

I can't remember the threads' name, but there were 2 keywords of which i am sure they were in the thread starter post, bikini and plate. I used the search function on both the US and EU forum for General and off-topic but didnt find anything.
The first reply was almost exactly the same as Downanaels' reply. :D

If anyone happens to have/find the link to it....

don't like it?
don't play the f'ing game.

In L2 there was a "bored" emote too.
The female dark elf would bend over and stick her ass in the air. Usually she was only wearing a thong as armor. That got to be a bit much but it's not a real person, who cares?

I cannot begin to imagine what those godawful ugly models look like with skimpy garments on.. definitely provide an image.. I need a laugh... although I'll probably be sick or just cry at how bad the models are :p

Tried playing the game, or are you just spewing garbage?

True enough, the models don't have lots of polygons, nor normal-mapping or whatever. They however fit in perfectly with the game world and are beautifully animated (unlike for instance Daoc, Morrowind and most of the others, not to mention Everquest). The engine has no problem dealing with hundreds of people in the same spot with everything set to max either. (as was proven at final beta start)

I know which one I prefer.

No, you don't understand. If it's not made by Sony or for a Sony product it's unadulterated crap according to Skyler. Best not to argue.

In my opinion Blizzard have reached an excellent medium of nice graphics and good gameplay. It has to be said that the graphics in Eq2 are awesome but when the gameplay is_that_bad I would rather be looking at stick people.

As for Sony it appears to me that they can generate some great ideas (planetside for example) however they lack the ability to bring to the market a game which has compelling gameplay. Don't get me wrong planetside for an fpser like me is a dream of a game but development of the game has been incredibly slow and in some cases misguided.

I DID.
Lineage 2 was over the top, though. For the brief period I spent playing it (fucking horrible grind game) it seemed to me that it was practically impossible for female characters to look anything OTHER than completely slutty. The point is that its restricted choice was what made it bad. If it had given players the option to look just, well, normal, then yeah, I wouldn't have considered screenshots such as the one above especially troublesome. However, limiting female characters to coming across as basically sex objects is a bit shit. As Cask said:

It's a shame really because the male characters look quite cool, but when your playerbase consists primarily of single men then it probably pays to cater toward them. Asian men like busty vixens and hentai schoolgirls and god knows there ain't enough porn on the web as it is.

skimpy? that's a full armour set there, you should see the models without any armour on!
