What's your favourite old-style dice RPG's ?

Warhammer Fantasy Role Playing (WFRP)
Palladium
Rolemaster (ICE)

Wasn't a massive fan of D&D, although many ppl I know loved it. Also enjoyed played Warhammer 40K.

Rolemaster, got a half-elf bard in a campaign ongoing atm that's been running for four years (I've only been involved for about 12 months tho).

Our GM takes great delight in inflicting facial wounds to my wee bard after I rolled a natural 99 on her appearance :twak:

My favorite dice was a D4, as it could be used as caltrops when bored first thing in the morning :)

oh... ahh... i gotcha :D

WFRP (my first and DAMN the combat sucked and took like an hour)
AD&D (2nd ed.)
Ninja's & Superspies
Cthulu
TMNT (Fear the "SubmarinOwl" :worthy: )
Vampire/Werewolf/Changeling/Wraith/Badger (or whatever the next WW product was)

i can't actually remember if thats all of them...

Oh, and Nightbane...

Yeah - forgot about Cthulhu - great atmosphere

...but the old style board n dice RPG's were only as good as the GM running it

I frequently used low level lighting FX n stuff to enhance things. That and a shed load of beer and Chinese food helped !

i loved rifts but surprisingly after atlantis they overpowered everything :D i heard on the grape vine they might be doing a mmorpg but i doubt it as palladium are clueless muppets.

Vampire kingdoms was great expansion

Runequest 2nd ED. Played in a campaign with same character for seven years and neither the character nor the plot ever got boring. Still miss Starburst still remember now!

D&D 2nd Ed => my first RPG ever which I actively played ( found nobody for DSA (Das schwarze Auge, mostly German thing ) )

D&D 3rd Ed => Many improvements imho and it's the thing I'm playing most atm with 2 different groups ( running 3 campaign plots), 3rd in planning:

1st plot: mistelf: 6 rogue / 10 assassin; mistelf: 11 cleric, 7 (soon 8) Silver Heart
2nd plot: human: 5 druid / 8 Swanmay
3rd plot in planning: mistelf: 3 sorcerer

GURPS ( Generic Universal RolePlay System ) => can be used for any environment and it's a pretty realistic ruleset, so don't expect to be an immortal superhero =)
Playing in one group atm and we run 2 campaigns:

active atm ( standard fantasy ): Lothrik, warrior in clothrobe and staff ( can't cast grp HoT fyi )
inactive atm ( more medieval fantasy ): Taliesim, bard with really no kind of fighting ability....poor and defenseless :p and married to a rogue-style character =)

Anyone remember Paranoia and Judge Dredd ?

Prob would have been good games but our DM was a gimp so the games sucked.

King Arthur Pendragon - great mechanics, great atmosphere, great attention to the roleplaying aspect by the developers. Has an 80 year, multi generation, campaign :)

Ars Magica - great mechanics, excellent atmosphere for roleplaying, socializing, intrigueing, and set in a alternate medieval earth setting. Never actually got to play it much tho.

Exalted - fun, epic, sprawling, over the top combat/action/stunts. Interesting world. Last rpg i played.

Star Wars (old one, from WestEnd Games, not the new crap from wizards of the coast) - always nice to visit the star wars universe, and this game had nice mechanics too (very free system). Many years since i played.

Been 2 years since i played any pen and paper rpg now tho :/ Mmorpgs take too much time, and old friends have moved etc.

Runequest because of the ducks.

Cyberpunk because of a tech and being able to build a C4 minigun...that backfired and blew up my penthouse :(

Oh and BDD. "big dienumber drinks" drinkpartygame. Quaranteed drunk party in half an hour or less.

Mordhiem was always great fun, 6 of us around a table drinking Vodka redbull while playing it :p

(remember once one of my Elfs jumped off the Battlements onto a Warp mage, both died on impact :p)

Might have been because i was always drunk when playing the game but it was a right laugh to play.

Played and loved AD&D 2nd Edit a long time ago

Did some Ringworld last month, and just starting a D20 spycraft system this week, so much better than any computer based RPG :)
