As some of you may know i am a total farscape junky and was utterly devistated when i heard that the sci-fi channel had canned the series (the excuse..."its too far out" well hellooo its sci-fi fgs!!) and wanted to letter bomb the buggers, instead i (along with thousands of other dedicated scapers) spammed the bring it back sites and now for those who dont know they have, a new mini-series called farscape: the peacekeeper wars is to be released in the fall (hooray!!!!)

http://www.farscapeworld.com/news/shownews.php?id=129

for those of you who havent seen the show but like sci-fi i highly reccommend it its unlike any other series the characters get snotty with eachother and have fights, swear at stuff and get it awn all over the ship, they have cool guns (no pansy arsed phasers for these guys) and the aliens actually look alien with the series being related to the henson creature shop they dont all just look like humans with funny accents (thinking star trek here) and one of them farts methane (need i say more!) the writing is brilliant, truely origional with excellant dark humour, for the gals theres ben bowder in those delicious leather trousers and for the guys theres chianna and aeren and for the real freaky perves theres reigel.

as you can see i totally love the series i know a lot of folk think its crap cos its not all deadly serious and all the episodes dont have lovely fluffy endings with strong moral infulences being rammed down your throat, but that for me is a lot of the appeal.

any hoo for those of you who like it, enjoy!
for those that dont..... go frell yerself dren head!

Heh ... cool! Farscape and Firefly are the only two good sci-fi shows that were ever made.

...and they were both canned by execs. Coincidence? :/

Add Lexx to that list.

Yeah im well looking forward to them tying up Farscape, wonder how they are gonna get round the 'both main characters blow into a million pieces' thing they did .. :)

I didnt really like farscape at first, saw the odd episode, and some of the muppets n stuff put me off. But a friend persuaded me to watch them in order, and I was hooked, the scripts and writting are excellent.

Downloaded the entire series a couple weeks ago and just started on season3 now, consuming a couple episodes a day^^ I like that the characters are flawed and constantly end up in conflict with each other, makes it more believable. Also like the look and feel of the universe. Shame it got cancelled, guess i should conserve the remaining episodes so i dont run out of goodies =/

Can recomend another cancelled series btw: Odyssey5 (one season only).

The crew and passengers (5 people) of a present day spaceshuttle witness the destruction of earth while on a mission, and are the only surviving humans. They (or their conciousness) are sent back in time (5 years) by a powerfull beeing to get a chanse of stoping it from happening again.
The main characters dont get along particularely well but have to find a way to work together, trying to avert the disaster and also trying to fit into their lives as they were 5 years ago.

I think I saw some of that but it seemed to me that it would have been better done as a Outer Limits script or something similar.

lol i was so utterly mortified at that ending i just sat there saying "i cant believe they did that" aparantly they are going to have the bits of chrystalised aeren and john reconstructed by aliens, still cant believe the tv exec's could be so cruel as to can the series on that ending i hope they all go to prison and get a cell mate called Bubba with an arse fettish tbh.

From what ive heard the deal was that the writers where supposed to finish the fourth season properly and then do a fifth, and a lot of their writting revolved around that. When they told that they had to end it all in the middle of the fourth season, I think they got really mad and thought fuck it, and made that rather abrupt ending as kinda pointer to how their plans where blown away without warning.

Farscape rocks. One of the few shows with wit and intelligence in it. Lots of utterly brilliant lines in it.

The original Lexx mini series was good, but after that it never really fulfilled the promise those original mini-films hinted at.

One of the things I'm really looking forward to is the Battlestar Galactica series. The updated mini series rocked and totally turned the whole thing on its head.

Babylon 5 > all imo, although its hard to get into if you don't start with the first series. Very well written, even had 2 episodes linked together involving time travel filmed 3 years apart.

Sumerised, some guy gets sucked through a worm hole, gets into a load of trouble with some aliens, makes some alien friends, runs away with them on a spaceship and get into more trouble.

But you really have to watch the series to know about it, mixture of action, adventure, humour, good plot, good actors and its kinda orginal.

Yeah weird, thats why I like Lexx > all. The robot head thing you really have to have followed the script to see how he ends up like that, it gets more derranged and psychotic as the episodes go on.

As for the sex, yeah thats their mission really, fly round the galaxy try and find a new home, get in as much shagging as possible. I like the paradox with Stanley Tweedles life, hes probably the most powerfull man in the two universes but theres no way hes getting a shag (well unless it puts them all in a life threatening situation) :)

OMG rofl it is totally the opposite from star trek as you would have seen if you read the 1st post in this thread, star trek is the margerine of sci fi in comparison :D

Easy way to tell if you'll like Farscape.

If you like Coronation Street, you'll hate it. If, like me, you think Corry is the bastard lovechild of witless, talentless monkeys that should never have been left in the same room to breed, then you'll like Farscape :)

Hehe ok, for peeps outside of the UK that don't know what Coronation Street is, its one of the most popular shows in the UK. It's a soap, one of the oldest, and appeals to the lowest common denominator, generally providing low grade, mind-numbing trash that neither requires you to engage your imagination or intellect in any way. It doesn't even look good. If you feel good after an episode its only the same type of feeling that finally dislodging a troublesome crap would give you. Its disposable TV at its worst being there as a fix for its adherants rather than genuinely entertaining. They even admit they can miss many episodes and still pick up what is going on.

On the subject of B5, yeh I'd forgotten that one. However, Series 1 and 5 weren't very good. Series 1 was plagued by Commander Cardboard and its only when they kicked him and got in Bruce Boxleitner for Series 2 that it started to pick up. Because of always being threatened with being cancelled the climax to the plot arc came in series 4 and left series 5 kind of adrift with only the occasional good episode, such as the one that focused on the Psi Corps giving an insight into just how twisted Bester is. Walter Koenig proving there's life after Star Trek. The stories in B5 though were awesome. Big, broad and unafraid of pedantic TV network thinking. JM is a very clever guy, but he should have let others do some of the scripting more, since it seems to me his strength was in plotting, not dialogue.

Erm, I'll shut up now :D

You can get the DVD series box sets atm. Best science fiction series ever made imo.
I enjoyed the few farscape episodes I saw being as it was on at a crap time on BBC2 on a bad day for me. Deranged biological spaceship offspring for the win :O.

ps. Lexx was just too weird for me.
