Off to Helsinki (that's in Finland, fools :p) today and figured out that the cheapest way is getting ScanRail passport - that leaves me 3 days to travel for ~12 days in Norway/Sweden/Denmark so I'm asking what is worth to see there for a huge castle-type-building fan like me? I've seen pretty much everything above arctic circle so heading to south now
scanrailkartta_small.gif

That sukcy map above shows the routes I can use - first I will go through Sweden (I live in Rovaniemi @ Arctic circle) to Denmark so I can fill up my beer supply with quality beer (Norway is expensive and Swedish beer sucks :p), spend some time in Denmark if there is something worth seeing, checking southern Sweden if there is something to see, going to southern Norway and finally back to home.

Thanks.

Castles? :/

I know two 'small' castles in Gothenburg, one is Kungälvs fästning and another is on a small island just near the harbour, Älvsborgs fästning I think it's called, try google the names.

Free beer and booze @ Helsinki which makes the trip "free" as I tend to drink lots :p I lived in Helsinki the last year and ended up going back to home with Helsinki gal... took part of Wankathon just to avoid doing it again :D

One of the best castles on the west coast of Sweden is this:

Carlstens Fästning

This castle, also known as Marstrands Fästning, was invaded twice, once by Danes and once by Norwegians, but was handed back to Sweden both times. Later it served as a nasty prison and the last garrisson was pulled from it in the late 18-hundreds.

Sounds cool :D

Except that Wankathon has one downside, you don't get poontang with it, but you get admiration and disbelief from women and a possible wife with it ;)

Hmm Denmark is pretty boring to visit unless you visit Copenhagen, or join the roskilde festival or vacate near the coast in the summer (that rox :D soooo many chicks ^_^)

But if you havent been in copenhage go there and visit different places like Christianshavn, Christiania and the Tivoli.

You really wanna go thoose place :)

And then you can go hit the town at night. Lots of stuff happening (like concerts and other events), even on weekdays.

And if you wanna bring some beer home go buy Carlsberg Black Gold, and Tuborg Golden lady, Refsvindinge Ale no. 16, Blue Thor, Albani Odense Classic <3 Guessing you'll be there in time for x-mas beers? Go buy a bunch off all :D Also ALOT of smaller breweries are popping up around the country (quite fotm to brew beer ^_^) so just ask around for peoples favourite beer... mmmh getting thirsty!

Yeah :D

Looks like I could get to Newcastle fairly cheap so who knows, maybe I'll go there too - there has to be castle(s) at Newcastle, right? :p

i know what advertisement i would have for Norway if i were to make it, a drop dead sexy woman, almost nude saying:

Hey you big man in the screen. Do you want to explore the depths... of norwegian mountains? Do you want expensive crappy beer and get kicked by a gang of immigrants free? Welcome to norway! your biggest dream!

and it ends with her kissing her hand and walk away.. caus thats what norway consists of.. crappy mountains, expensive beer and beatings!
