I can remember when I started RvRing and had loads of fun. It wasn't only fun when we had won a fight but even when we died I had a great time everytime we left DL for emain. It was the time when the word 'zerg' didn't exist cause every realm was running one. It was also the time when I didn't know about daoc IRC channels and the BW forum.

Now a lot of things have changed. Fun? The only fun I gain is when my group wins or after a really really nice fight (which usually involves winning otherwise it wouldn't be nice). Sometimes when I play nowadays and lose (no matter if the enemies just played better or had superior numbers) I get so worked up about it to a point the game changes from fun to a burden. It is this very moment I am starting to do/say things that I usually regret 10 mins later simply because it is not me.
I am not saying that I don't enjoy the game anymore in general but I think addiction has become a major factor why I still play this game and I doubt I am alone in this matter. Due to my irl situation (finishing my university degree soon) I won't be able to play regularly in the future; not sure yet if I will quit or if I gonna join the ranks of the "Casual Players".

How does GOL fit in here?
Well the reason why I wrote this post in first place was my personal crusade against GOL and some of its members over the past few weeks. We probably have different oppinions on how the game should be played and that is ok. But trying to denounce your guild for not playing after MY rules was stupid. Eventhough a certain dislike for the members of the enemy realm is part of the game mechanics it is not necessary to disrespect them. The 'goal' of every game is to have fun - and GOL is doing better at this aspect of the game than I do atm and maybe I am a bit jealous about this.

I know that flaming and ranting isnt anything unusual for an online game. Nonetheless I want to apologise with GOL and its members as the flamewar originated from my own dissatisfaction with the game.

I still have my own views on how the game should be played but in future I will refrain from imposing it on other players with different oppinions - be it in my own or in another realm. To further increase my enjoyment of the game once again I will not be on IRC anymore while I am in-game and will only post in positive forum threads (except savage whine threads ).

Well written post m8, I think a lot of us are guilty of the same thing we whine & flame as a reaction to our own dissatisfaction, think everbody should play the same we do, and increasingly only have fun when we 'win'.

Respect to you for the strength of character it takes to notice this in yourself (a good example to all), and even more so to publicly admit and appologise for it.

I'd Like to add, you don't have to play DAOc in your every spare moment........... Try and limit yourself to set days or evenings, remember any form of addiction is a weakness. And, its just a game, so never feel you have commitments to any one in-game, do what you want.

i dont know about you.

but the few times when i have been in 2fg+ and zerged alb/mid fg's, i have felt pity for them.

i know they waste their time buffing, porting, setting group up, only to be zerged by me.

if i were in that situation (which most hibs/mids are ) i would think that sucks.

and it sucks alright.

now, as a low rr grp meeting the high rr gank groups again and again, isnt fun either. so 1.5fg or 2, can be justified some times. however, ppl from GoL/FC/BF/RB/TB should never go in the alb zerg.

and mids/albs, for fuck sake, dont camp ridge/bolg and then whine when you get zerged by 3 fg hibs omw to emain from DL..

take a break, play another game like others for a month or so, u may find there are others mmorpg that may hold ur attention for awhile..

am on swg atm and its great for pve side of things..it ll get boring but atm it does hold my attention..master scout and marksman within a week :0

Respect to the master deathspammer, and I to will be off mIRC when in game as I to have tended towards very much whine each time I get zerged when playing sb, or zerged otherwise. I to appologize for my foul language on IRC.

Ánd stt_tts_sst have a very good point, play something else for a little while, myself have been playing through KoToR and now playing a bit NFS: Underground, and the times I logg in on Daoc I enjoy the times alot more.

I don't think I ever ran out in the same group more than once and as such "so far" I don't take rvr very seriously. I just shrug, laugh and /release, although ofc I'd like to be higher than RR3 (if only to be rid of the awful title u get at alb rr3) but I can't imagine what its like to be Garbonnoch. I'm a nobody tho, nobody expects me to wtfpwn, I'm just one of many Myrmidon alb running cluelessly round emain - however you're a prime target, everybody wants to say "I just killed Garbonnoch!!" and I can see that must be very frustrating for you when many fg's of albs or mids are jumping all over you just to get the kill spam.

Seems you took a reality check tho just have to remember its a game. You already proved you're one of the best out there at it, you have nothing left to prove to anybody so sit back and enjoy the ride

After reading the other post i thaught you were some kind of psycho. Now when reading this i can say that i recognize alot of your thaughts in myself. Anyway, strong to apologise like this.

I think that the only way to get the frustration off is a break from daoc. I took 2 months off and now im going on alot cooler then before. I really doubt that many "power gamers" are enjoying their time in daoc. For me earlier it was mostly (not totally) a endless run for increase my rp scores. I wasnt having fun. Just killing time to get the regular 10k rp per hour.
