You might be able to help me with somthing

When you got hacked and deleted, did you get all chars restored from back-ups or did they recreate the chars for you with no items / rp's / armour/ gold ect.

Its just that a mate has just had all his deleted with no new chars being made to wipe back-up's and GOA reckon they only carry the back-up's for 4 slots !!!!

Unfortunately we keep only four backup for your characetrs and Lynyrd was not in them, so we cannot restore him.

Unless these guys are fully mad they will perform full system and incremental backups on every component on their network...

These backups are obviously done online (while the game is live)

To save time they implemented this backup slot so that even when it appears to the client that his character is deleted it actually isnt. Its just residing somewhere that the client doesnt get at.

In a nutshell the data for all your deleted characters is prolly sitting on some DLTIII or DAT tape in a cupboard. GOA wont have standard procedures to restore characters from this backup. A clever developer could prolly find it and do it....

Needless to say they will stick to their procedures or everyone will demand the same treatment.

Unfortunetly I think the 4 slot of restorable characters is correct, as this thing was implmented prior to SI where u get 8 slots.

I had exactly the same happen to me. Account got hacked, all stuff stolen and then the chars deleted. I was told they didnt have a backup for my lvl49 NS and my 36 Eld, which really pissed me off.

Recently a GOA E&E had his account hacked, chars overwritten, so no backups and then GOA remake his main chars. GOA also make new chars on the test as and when they like, and apparently it takes about a minute to make a new char. So in other words if GOA like u(like u r a GOA e&e) they will remake your chars, if u arent well then u can just forget it. Nothing against the GOA e&e person I'm on about coz he didnt deserve to get hacked and should have had his chars restored anyways, but still it shows GOA taking the piss out of their customers again.
