If this is for a gift then you may be better off simply going for a decent name... personally I like the Taylor's vintage port that's available at not too bad a price, so that may help as a pointer....

Warres or something, wondered if it was a good year, the bloke in the shop told me it was, but obviously at the price they sell for, he'd say anything to make me buy it. ;o

Musta cost a fair wack

30 yr old Whisky costs about £150 a bottle. Or does pricing not work like that with Port?

Depends on the type of port, but it can be very expensive too. ;o
just so your minds can rest easy, we opened the bottle, and '85 is very good.;o
