Faction Question

I'm trying to do a quest (Sheerie Mischief) that involves speaking to Gurites (sp?), which I believe are on the same faction as Siabras. The mobs are agro to me at the moment, so I thought I'd try to restore faction by killing curms, which at that point were neutral.

Over Friday, Saturday and Sunday I killed about 400 curms (both solo and 5 at a time with a Bard friend) and whilst they are now agro to me (hard surprising I guess :)), and my sheerie faction is now back to neutral, the siabra are still agro.

I realise that I should need to kill a number of curms equal to the number of siabra's I've killed, however I'm sure that I've never killed those many Siabras :)

Does it matter what con the mobs are when you dispatch them? Since I've killed a lot of orange and yellow conned Siabra, but these curms I've been restoring faction on are green (getting grey now).

Another question. Are there any higher conned curm mobs knocking about? (I've been using the curm camps S of the Parth farm in Lough Derg)

Any help would be appreciated

The greys don't count for anything, but the greens do.

When I did that quest with my alt bard, I didn't have to kill very many curms before the siabra went neutral to me (a dozen or so)... but I had never killed a siabra, either. With my main character I slaughtered hundreds of siabra leveling up not realizing what a pain that would be later on, especially hunting in the bog. I have killed many curms since, but the damage seems to be done... curms are still neutral to me, and the siabra don't like me one little bit.

Thanks for the response.

FYI I've only been killing greens and blues, plus the odd grey add (which couldn't be avoided :)).

Do you know if it's possible to complete the quest with the mobs still agro to me? I don't mind dying, but I would like that bracer.

i think that faction kills is on a 4:1 ratio 4killed o
f a curm will give you 1 better in siabra faction .. so if you have killed about 100 siabras you need to kill 400+ curms to get them back 2 neutral .

Sorry, after reading your first post more carefully, I realized that I have not personally done this one. But it should always be possible to do them even if the mobs are aggro - if you have to speak to one then he should be neutral or hostile to you no matter what your faction with his race (my level 40 ranger epic required me to speak to a siabra - I had to stealth into his camp to get to him, and whisper to him, but he didn't attack me :) )

There is some information here. http://camelot.allakhazam.com/quests.html?realm=Hibernia&cquest=193 Have you tried to find the Gurite Tempriar yet? Are you sure he is aggro to you? His friends might be, but he might not.

Oh, and in case you don't know, Gurites are siabra. In older versions of the game they were just Siabra, and in one of the patches before 1.45 they got renamed by zone into Sheevra (Silvermine), Eriu (Shannon Estuary), Gurite (Lough Gur), Dergan (Lough Derg), and Siog (Bri Leith). But they are all still Siabra.

I know that quest was hell for me and I even had a big bad druid with me for help. Damn gurites have scouts everywhere so watch out.. or w8 until they are grey until you do it :)

Idril - Hmm wasn't aware that this sort of ratio was in effect, but if it is then that would explain the huge curm body count that I'm leaving behind me on the path to neutral faction with the Siabras :)

Alrindel - Thanks for the link. Last I checked (Saturday) the Tempriar was still agro to me :( I may try talking to him regardless just to see if I can move the quest forward a step. The change in names with the 1.45 patch explains where all the siabra went that I knew from the beta :)

Feldegast - thanks for the warning. I was hoping to avoid a fight by getting my faction sorted. May not have a choice after all.

You can also wait till you are higher level to finish the quest, so that the gurites are grey to you. Of course, then the reward will be pretty much useless (especially the xp, the item you can of course give away), but might be faster than trying to get your faction better.

There are some higher level curms (yellow to level 40) not far from DL down the hill from the setts and white boars (approximately east from DL). There are those nasty spectral invaders around there as well.

I think there are some near the merman lake as well.

Damn curms are friendly to me, looks like my siabra faction is screwed.

Well I decided to have one last go at changing faction last night, and after only 30 or so curms the faction changed  , rode down to Carthag and spoke to the Gurite without an exchange of blows :)

As a celebration I jogged down to the Siabra City and said "Hi" to the queen www.BrowseData.com/DAoC/sshots/SiabraQueen.jpg :D

A question for you high level peeps. Now that I have good faction with the Siabra is it worth keeping?

Thanks

Yes. It will make traveling/hunting in and around the bog a lot easier.

Was 43 lvls being neutral vs sibbys... then hunting em in bog due to group and lost the faction... I´ve killed LOAD of curms... they really hate me :)

Now I´ve got both aggro but... hei anyway, u won´t need to keep that once u r lvl 50 unless u keen on /kiss sibby queen instead of killing her :p
