FABLE: Shortest RPG EVER?

Well the above says it all really, Fable on the xbox is a truly lovely rpg but reviews mentioned that it was a little short.

Well I finished it last night, (completing all the guild map room sidequests) in 13.5 hours...

...which is a bit of a joke really.

I know I always race through rpg's quickly the 1st time and go back for a second look straight away, something I've already started with Fable. For example I completed FFVII in 37.5 hours (with one 6 hour break for sleep, god I LOVED that game ;) ) and then went on to finish it again in 70+ and 100+ hours.

But 13.5?

Is there in fact or ever been an rpg that took less time? Even if there is I'm sure Fable could be completed in less than 10 hours if you tried.

So serious reservations about suggesting this game to my friends despite the fact that what is there is very, very good :(

Fable: 8.0/10.0

Still... 13½ hours is definately what anyone expects from a game these days. Pouring out $50 for a game and then be done with it so fast, I'd feel cheated no matter how good the few hours spent on the game were.

Lol 37.5h for your first time ????? I think my first time was about 48-52h but I did finish the game only level 74 if I remmber :)

and yes 13.5h is a joke tbh.. I remmber playing Grandia 1 and been realy impressed.I think my final game time was about 59h but when I played Grandia 2 I finished it in just over 28h :< which is still good.. but I enjoy a long RPG as long as it has a good story and keeps you intrested etc.etc

You know with all this talk of FFVII I think I might have to dig out my old ps1. I want to go kick Sepheroth's pasty, long haired butt right now!

Oh... and on repetition I took 23 hours to complete Fable after really getting into the nooks and crannie's of the game.

So not exactly as long "Baldur's Gate I" to "BG II:- Throne of Bhaal" or Morrowind then :p

I believe this is more made towards the casual player who plays for like hour, two, three every few days. Not solely, but more. This is a normal length for a modern game made for masses, any longer would loose peoples interest in completing them and in a small way spoil the sequal sales.

Just my two nickles.

That certainly seems likely, I'd even recommend the game to someone who's never played an RPG before.

But I think they were certainly marketing as a bit more than RPG-Lite. :)

Still, I won't get bitter about it, played enjoyed it (while it lasted) and will now flog it.

I'd even go back and change my opinion about repeat value. It's worth 2 maybe 3 play throughs and no more.

I personally believe a developed and engaging plot (not essentially original, just fun!) is vital in any RPG and Fable's is too vague, too simple and to un original to add any replay value.

I really enjoyed it, but yes it was a wee bit short. Not really played many games in this genre so am trying to see if I will enjoy any others similiar.

Closest to this that I have played are Zelda and Beyond Good and Evil.

Any suggestions for a similiar title? Some people seem to recommend Morrowind.

If you like Western RPG's get Morrowind its huge in 3D and about 100 times longer than Fable with the main storyline being really quite good. Baldurs Gate is good but I prefer the first person perpective for morrowind.

what alot of people dont realize is the replay value , what kind of character did you use to beat it in 3.5hr? evil? good? nuetreal ... its very diferent for the 3types , and if you dont skip the creds , you can keep playing after the game , which is uber cus my chara was evil an killed the sister , so i get to use the sword of aeons... theres lots of things to do ... ive bought every building in oakvale ... now im working on getting the skorm bow ... theres still lots of good stuff.. also getting new spells and stuff ... ive mastered only lighghing (4) which is uber becuase i can hit 4peoples with it at once....but anyway , TONS of replay value , i beat it in 16hours , but have played about 5hours after
