expansion question

From the DAoC Press release posted ont he Herald...

Dark Age of Camelot: Foundations is the first of three expansions Mythic will be releasing in 2003 according to Mark Jacobs, CEO, Mythic Entertainment. Foundations will be followed by another free expansion that will concentrate on further enhancing and developing the game’s unique Realm vs. Realm combat system in the second half of the year. The third is a major expansion, which will be sold at retail in the fourth quarter.

If i read this right then w can expect 3 mor expansions, 2 of them will be free and the third should be purchased.

What i'm wondering is if GOA will give those expansions free too? If so then i'm damn curious how they going to do that without making big losses. (afterall, it is a commercial company)

But lets not jump to far ahead, did i read it right?

Its " just " big patches the first two expansions I think

You did read it correctly, but, the free ones wont be on the same scale as SI.

Foundations = Houseing, A new zone where only the people interested in it will go, I guess it will be an option patch to download

You read it right... its 3 expansions including housing.

Expansion 1: Foundations (Housing) - Free
Expansion 2: ??? (RvR) - Free
Expansion 3: ??? (???) - $$$

Expansion 3 will be along the lines of Shrouded Isles (not necessarily content wise but I would guess possibly another engine upgrade and new content only available to people who purchase the expansion).

E3 starts next week if I'm not mistaken... we will probably learn more details about all 3 expansions then.

As far as I know, you will be able to download those 2 free expansions, so GOA just needs to set up a reliable file server.

I heard someone talk about the name of an expantion for daoc comming in the furture, he called it ... eh eh...

or a special patch for albion and midgard that allows them to see where the underhill people come from

it could like show the factory line of underhills being churned out, and maybe have a giant underhill mother that is constantly laying eggs, and an albion called ripley who is trying to stop the evul race from taking over the world, and the underhills should bleed acid and stuff, and should run around with like two sets of mouths, and kill stuff......
