Well that was swift, the game hasn't even been released yet :p

Still, at least they're thinking ahead I guess :eek7:

thre's no official word on PvP yet, tho it seems likely that'CoV will feature that.
tis sad really, since no pvp is one of it's stronger selling points for me.

Devs have appeared on the offical forums and confirmed that CoV includes pvp.

City of Villains quickie
I'm travelling right now, so no time for a big update, but just as a quickie from a glance at the boards - City of Villains will have PvP but it will NOT force PvP on everyone as a free-for-all. If you want to be a hero who never once sees a player villain, that's perfectly possible. Jack will probably have some more details later.

For other details, ya gotta wait for E3 Thanks again for the beta fun, all -

Hehe, well they have been planning this expansion for quite some time.
So it's only natural the take it up asap, as it will include PvP, and thats a big issue for alot of ppl.

The suggestion I posted was for City of Viallains first and then PvP - villains vs. heroes to be done via instanced dungeons. I suppose they could do Villain vs. Villain too.

I am sure that the fields of Atlas Park etc will never see a 'villain' ever.

Ah well just over 10 hours to go.

Where's the fun of playing a villain if you can only do it in dungeons.
I haven't played the game yet, but am getting interested. Is the city anything like GTA3, with pedestrians and cars etc all moving around. Can you pick up cars and lamposts to use as weapons(as in Freedom Force). Can buildings be damaged?

Surely the fun in playing a villain is to cause havok in the city, a rampage which will need heros to stop. That has potential for some huge fights.

PvP in concept and reality are unfortunately different. It's usually a nice idea, with the potential for huge amounts of fun, and I won't deny that the epic battle between good and evil, with players on both sides could be great fun. However, the reality is usually greifers, inherent balancing issues common to every MMOG ever released, "ubah kiddies" who spend far more time than is healthy getting that drop that’s 0.5% better than the others and building the perfect setup, and an immense amount of whining about the fact everyone else's class is unbalanced because they managed to kill you. I'm sure a lot of people enjoy that... but not me.

CoH has been designed as a PvE game, and I think they'll have a lot of trouble balancing it for PvP without ruining what they've already done.

It's indeed a GTA alike city, tho there isn't Freedom Force alike freedom to just grab cars and lamp posts and use that to beat the crap out of villains. it still feels very much alive and like a real city tho.

PvP will make it like DAoC :)

Fun in the beginning but in the end unplayable since CC will be so nerfed :)
and tankers will pwn since they all get Determ 1000.

Atm PvP sounds crazy since the CC is so damn powerful in this game, we almost got whiped once in the sewers under Peres Park since the damn mobs had stun and aoe mezz.
