a few weeks ago (possibly longer im not sure tbh its all a haze) there was a thread about exercise and people wanting to bulk up or slim down or whatever and i was just wondering how everyone is getting on with it, and for those who are possibly feeling a bit bleeh about it at this point to give em a bit of pepping up.

personally im doing quite well i think, i havent got any scales so dont know if ive lost weight but ive deffo gained muscle (Lateral Thigh Trainer™ FTW!!!11)

also wanted to share this lil gem with you, i had problems eating right and getting enough vitimins and crap from fruit and veg so we got a juicer (jack lalanne express £50 ebay) and i have to say after just about a week im really feeling the benifits.

anyhoo let us all know how your going on now seals put the mockers on any molestation you might have planned i guess youll be looking for other ways to expend energy.

The people that came to me for advice via pms are doing well as soon as you are done with the routine your doing now then its time to take it up a step remember you have a whole day infront of you even when your done with work i get up at 5: morning go running do weights go down the gym only takes 3 hours out of ya life is 3 hours out of your life for the rest of your life:)

glad to hear you are going strong having a juicer is very nice but done boor yourself keep makeing weird combinations even if they come out looking sick make your exercising fun:) I personally use a blender for smoothie makeing just ice milk and the desired fruit:)

The problem is with some i know the diet is very boring and some just say i want to go back to the craving their is a way to stop this look yourself in the mirror for 2-3 minutes and i bet you wont want one of your craving foods:)

PM Elkie if need help i specialise in weight training (muscle building)

Doing fine myself, haven't had any plans on quitting, probarly because I've been doing it for years :p

Anyways, I also started doing athletics (400m, 800m and the rare 100m), and I must say it's a fun way getting into even better shape hehe. Other than that, I try and eat a balanced diet or whatever, not because I won't eat the occasional fast-food-saturday-night-menu, because atm my weight is fine :p

I've lost 6lbs in the last three weeks, and also managed to "lose" 2 stone by being accurately weighed rather than using my crappy scales at home (I was shitting myself when they told me I was 15 stone!).
Feeling much fitter - was able to run for 24 minutes the other day, which for me was a massive feat, even if I did nearly black out afterwards!
Really looking forwards to the summer - got a couple of bike rides and canoeing trips planned, as well as a holiday in Greece in September to look forwards to - can't wait!
I've really cut down my boredom eating, and restricted it to only fruit and veg - carrots, sugar snap peas, grapes cucumber etc. Make sure I have a breakfast every morning - Bran Flakes ftw. I've also slowed down my eating, which has made a real difference - I used to eat so fast that because of the delay it takes for your brain to realise your stomach is full, when I finished my meal I would be full, but about 10 minutes later I would be really uncomfortably full.

i r r0xx0ring my flab!

some juices i like to make:

if your like me and like a drink with a kick like a mule try these babies!!
ammounts vary depending on how many your juicing for.

orange (we've found clemantines to be best for juicing) lemon, mango.

orange, lemon, apple, kiwi fruit.

orange, apple, carrot, lemon, ginger!

some definate must haves for juicing are carrots (about half a tonne because if you make 100% fruit juice you get a sugar buzz that makes your eyes hurt lol) green and red apples (alternate for sweet/sour taste) oranges, lemons (limes dont peel so if you want lime juice you have to cut it and squeeze some in after) mango ginger, kiwis, honey dew melon is great water melon sucks, pine apple.

there are millions more but havent even got round to trying those yet lol got the joy of broccoli juice to come!

any hoo if you are wanting to work out more i strongly suggest getting a juicer because you can have a glass b4/after exercise and it gives you energy and doesnt make you feel sick lol.

Everyone has a six pack, its just covered with a layer of flab which is a pain to get rid of, not sure the exact values but I think its when you get to around 11% body fat you'll see signs of them. Basically you have to use up more calories than your eating, and all though crunches n sit ups are great excersise they won't help you develope a six pack specifically.
Mind you I shouldn't really give advice I've never had a six pack myself, I just try to keep in half decent shapes which is gonna be tricky now I've just had my arm wired no weights or jap slappin for atleast 2 months so looks like I'm going to have to start running again which I fnd rather tedious :(

Ez i found the fastest way to tone my stomach was ..

lay on ur back, legs up in the air and parallel to the floor, now bend bout 1/4 the way up...and being ur left leg towards u and then with ur hands behind ur head meet ur leg with ur right elbow.. and then vise versa..kind of like cycling :eek7: personally i done 200 left+right legs at a time, rest then what ever i could handle after that.

when i was training for thai boxing i found that to be really good.

another 1 i reckon is good is ..

lay flat and knees bent and feet secure like a normal sit up. come again 1/4 the way up, then twist left to right bout 10 times, then finish off the rest of the sit up, back down, 1 straight forward sit up, 5s rest..repeat.

hope that makes atleast a small bit o' sense

thankyou sweetie!

i've been doing a spot of research and it says to not do millions of reps but to do as many as you can in the hardest position you can take (oh er) and i think if i tried to do 200 of anything i would probably choke on my own vomit and die a la 70's rock star mode.

shall have a go at those exercises you suggested after ive hammered my LTT this morning cheers

I found that that using a slighly different aproach was better.

On your back, lift you legs up from the ground like a foot or so. Now don't let them touch the ground. Touch your temple with your fingers, don't put your hands behind your neck since it will tempt you to pull. Now crunch, make sure you use you abs more than your legs, just go up about as far as you feel is natural, your legs will actually bend and pull up slightly by the themselfs. depending on how you bend upper body vs legs you can choose what area of the stomach to work, so you can go for the pac or try to work on that pesky pouch a lot of you woman can't seem to get rid off :p
You don't have to/can't do 200 of these. Just do as many as you can 3 times either every night or every other night. And you will get a very nice result :)

/ps do this on something softish

Like someone said, you will never have a visible six-pack if you have a layer of flab over it, so the best way of getting a six-pack is to do lots and lots of cardio - running, cycling, rowing etc etc, and make sure your calorie intake is considerably less than in should be :D

Another thing to consider...

If you're like me and have a podge (i.e. sticky outie tummy) then situps and cardio aren't going to make it go away. You need to excercise your transverse abdominals (i.e. inner abs). One way to do this (feel free to correct me on this one Elkie!) is to suck your stomach in as much as possible (imagine you're trying to get your belly button as close to your spine as possible) and hold it for 10 seconds. Do this as much as you can, and try and hold your stomach in using your inner abs throughout the day, and your tummy won't stick out as much :D

Works for beer bellies too ;)

haha excellant i did the ab exercises this morning and in the past i'd been doing them completely wrong (using legs rather than stomach muscles) and really felt the difference, wtg all soon we'll be a race of super nerds!!
