you have to be +r to get into Celtic Fist because of the annoying spam bots, dont know about the other channels

Do you go to www.irc.quakenet.org to open mIrc for these channels? Can't tell because it gives me a 'Bad Gateway' error while trying to open the web addres.

yes seems to be down. just try get a as new version as possibel as old ones have had an history of having some easy exploited bugs in it.

Also check out Xchat, www.xchat.org is an alternative to mirc, but developed on linux and almost as versatile as mirc.

While mirc is the more popular client, you do have the added safety of being less vunerable to hacks/dodgy scripts etc while using xchat
