WHEN on board H.M.S. 'Poodle,' as naturalist, I was much struck with certain facts in the distribution of the inhabitants of Dark Age of Camelot, and in the geological relations of the present to the past inhabitants of those servers. These facts seemed to me to throw some light on the origin of players-that mystery of mysteries, as it has been called by one of our greatest FH posters.

Here follows my grand theory on the Evolution of a DAoC Player:

See this thread for more interesting discussion on this subject. Also, credit to the The Origin of Species, on which this post is loosely based. :p

I don't agree with the stereotyping behind the joke. It should be daoc 1337boi, not player.

90% of players aren't anything like that.

But yeh, ha ha.

The stereotyping is a joke, if it escaped your attention. Yes, I know you don't go from noob to casual to leet. ;)

In my reply I stated I know it was a joke.

I'm saying it would be more appropriate/funny if it was evolution of an 1337 rather than a player, but maybe that was lost on you. ;)

Never mind, carry on.

Think it goes more along these lines:

Confused

Keep trying

Starting to like it

Really getting into it (beginning to go without sleep)

Addicted

Totally addicted

Obsessed

Obsessed and drunk at the same time

Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed Obsessed ObsessedObsessedObsessedObsessedObsessedObsessedObsessedObsessed

The above period does last a long time.

Not so obsessed but gotta point to prove

Less obsessed and starting to not care too much about dieing

Bit pissed off cos you think you care less about dieing

Drunk and pissed off

Drunk & pissed off & more drunk

Pissed off

Still pissed off

Eh - pissed off

funny r absent :(

p.s. on a serious note, i've never known a single good player speak/act how you portray them as doing here. it's usually the fucking morons who ACT like they rock (but actually suck) who talk like that ;). take odins players on camlann for a perfect example of this ^^

the true evolution of the l33t is more:

noob
noob who won't listen
noob who won't listen with skilled people to leech from and/or a lot of time to play
noob who won't listen with lots of RP and a serious attitude problem

;)

I'm still on stage 2 :(

probably not many ;) I'm sure there's an awful lot of alpha-male preening and posturing involved in the usual l33t "swearing at passers by" and "belittling the n00bs" which probably is a result of a little too much testosterone.

I imagine there's still some though :)

L33tists... the chavs of daoc :) hang around in their SC'ed shell suits with their Sovereign Ring (level 10)'s and yell abuse at the "noobs".
