Fallout is placed in a Post-Nuclear world, a bit like in the Mad Max movies. Just no other game that comes anywhere close to Fallout.

...with a lot of humour and a great story

in terms of appearance, it's a bit styled like the B-movies in the 50's

if search the countryside for a longer time, there's a chance to get some 'random' scripted encounters (a band of Mutants mowing down settlers and telling you there's 'nothing to see, move along' for example ... or a U.F.O including a 'Grey' and a funky Lasergun ... or 'Jinx' the dog of devastation and chaos <gotta love that dog>)
The game is brutal at times (toggable) but never takes it too serious ... never saw another game where you could kill the final boss with your mutated Toe (stuff like that happens if you run around in radioactive goo for too long) :D

Guess both games a pretty cheap if you can still find them, but they're worth it ;)

But be warned, atleast Fallout 2 is HUGE, even if you don't do all the side-quest.

RPG or MMORPG?

Seeing as i played this first, THEN tried Neverwinner and Neverrest, i can only really appreciate this one as a bench mark, so i just laughed a lot then uninstalled Neverwinner and Neverrest.

RPG's, of the table top variety (or college common room - i feel soo old now)

AD&D - Forgotten Realm: will always hold a fond place in my heart
Call of Cthulu: Nuff said really...
Superheroes: Ph33r teh SubmarinOwl - the Damp Predator ;)
Vampire: Masquerade: when it was still fun! (Gangrel4teh\/\/in!!)
Ninja's & Superspies: HIIYAAAAAA!!!!!!

but then again, i'm just an ageing RPer with fond memories and loads of source books from obsolete systems clogging up my loft... actually, must think about a boot sale...
