...I am going to for give it a try, check out what kind of game it is.

Check gamespot of interviews of developers and game footage of it. Developers say its a game suitable for soloer / casual player as well - so ppl here in FH who have complained that for casual player in DAOC its hard to solo etc, maybe EQ2 is game for u then.

If you like massive time sinks, PvE only and having to group nearly everytime you want to do anything ie a quest then its the game for you, its basically EQ with a few more sparkly bits and better graphics, you won't have the freedom of play or PvP as you do in DAOC, WoW might be a better choice if you like the cartoon graphics and all the muppets from the battlenet servers who will descend on it in the first few months.

= All MMORPG's are massive time sinks, desgined that way so ppl dont stop playing after first couple months :m00:

= wrong, there will be pvp servers like in original EQ, they were great fun xD and even in the non-pvp servers they had huge PvP arenas around the place which also were great fun.

= wrong, in EQ2 it has been made a lot easier to solo and all the classes have a half decent ability to solo(some better than others as usual;)). Of course there will be a lot of quests and such where you do have to group, thats the basis of establishing a community.

No freedom of play? Dunno where you got that from, no pop-up when you login in telling you to do exactly this and exactly that. tbh it is nothing like EQ with a few more sparkly bits, so please, get your facts right before you have a dig at something.

Im on Runnyeye (the euro flagged server) playing the barbarian shaman Eiric on the good side and the troll shadowknight Zlugugg on the evil side.

As soon as a RvR (good vs. evil not PvP kill anyone) server pops up and you can move I will do that.

Wont be leaving DAoC though with NF and Catacombs incoming ... just gonna spend some hours a week in EQ2 with some IRL friends.

Will prolly do the same with WoW ... been playing both WoW and EQ2 beta ... both have potential and both are kinda fun ... but I think DAoC will be even better with NF and Cata and I like my friends and chars here so I am sure I ll stay for a long time still.

Gonna try it out at some point most likely on Runnyeye, but since I have exams in december I'm gonna wait a bit.. Also I might try out WoW first, because my friends don't wanna play EQ2, but WoW... don't know yet, but at some point you'll prolly see a char spam of Naus'es once I get the game ^^

The dev's said there wouldn't be any pvp servers in the foreseable future, so don't count on it.

I'll be playing a half elven druid on the euro designated server (when i get the game friday that is).

Cozak my facts are correct, I played EQ for 5 years before coming to DAOC, and yes all MMORPGS are time sinks however EQ has and always will take this piss when it comes to doing things, what take an hour in DAOC would take 8 hours in EQ.

PvP is non existant in the sense of what is offered under the DAOC or even WOW system, you pick a server and thats its PvE all the way, if you then want proper PvP you have to start from scratch on another server and build again, and since the Devs also said there wasn't going to be any PvP at all at one point then your information is wrong, and those PvP zones you talk about is complete bollocks since hardly anyone frequents them unless its been organised on a board prior.

Feedback I also recieved is that solo anything worth while is very difficult and time consuming and really does encourage group play which can be a good or bad thing depending how you look at it.

7 real life friends are actually playing the beta and these are very experienced EQ players and there is a mixed reaction some love it some don't, so before you start quoting people and saying you are wrong blag blah make damn sure you actually have proper facts also.

EQ and EQ2 are massive time sink game in comparison to DAOC which you can get alot done it a relatively short space of time, EQ2 looks a very pretty game with a few nice touches but as I said it is what EQ should have been in the first place.

I played WoW for several hours last night, and I cant say im that impressed tbh. Its just the same all over again. Do loads of PvE(quests actualy give nice xp in WoW, wich is a +) gain a few levels, find a trainer, train new skills, buy new armor\weaps.

The graphics are ok I guess, if you like cartoons, but as in daoc they realy should have done more with the look of each toon, and the sound is almost as bad as in Daoc. The cloaks are something wich realy anoyed me, it looks like a smal flag that cover ur neck.. whats up with that?

The spell animations should realy get some loveing to, with todays competision I dont understand why they didnt make them better. The animations from NeverWinter Nights >>> WoW, as a mage you get tired of the same glowing hands 6 times everytime you kill a mob.

One of the best things about WoW is that they keep the humor from the Warcraft games. If you press a npc serveral times fast he always have something funny to say. I pressed a wolfrider yesterday and this was the response I got: Ewww what a smel!! BAD DOGGY!!!! Priceless!

After playing the beta im not sure If I will play the actualy game... Its not THAT good compared to Daoc. Should note that I only played to lvl 10 with 2 chars, and there is ofc ALOT I didnt get to try.

Anyway that was my 2 cents, cba'ed to write a whole story about this, but there are several other things I like and dont like with this game, atm the things I dont like outnumber the things I like.

What server did you play? Played for about 5 years also, quit soon after GoD when we got to the north hall and couldnt even kill the trash mobs  the thought of going back to 5 more levels = :m00:

How much does it cost per month to play? and are there many players online?

IIRC 13.95 $ per month. At least in the server I play (Runnyeye) are many players. Getting groups is quite easy, ppl seem nice in overall too.

Plenty of doable (read soloable) quests, which gives little rewards like money and/or item(s). Harder quest must be done in group(s) or even as a raid consisting multiple groups.

Looked at a m8 that played EQ2 this weekend... OMG I love the grapichs. Spesialy the "healer" smite.. its a red sword that hits the mob and splinters to smal pices.. realy nice.

Not sure if Im gonna try it tho. Think I have enough with daoc atm, but Cathacombs BETTER improve the spell effects and sounds alot.. the sounds in this game is sader that my Commandore 64 Bubble Bubble game....

The gameplay in EQ2 is much quest based. One does quests to get money/item(s) as a reward. There are also class quests, which are needed to be completed so one can advance further in char lvl. I.e. one cannot lvlup to say to lvl 10 before the needed class quest for that lvl is done.

As there are no RvR similarities in EQ2 when compared to Daoc, one would think that what happends when all quests are done.. does the char evolution end to there, and time to roll another char? In daoc there are quests yes, but they are not in such role as in EQ2. In Daoc I did quests to get epic gear for char, and exp quests as well. But as we know game doesn't end there. There are master levels, and RR to get. So I am conserner is in EQ2 that thing as in Daoc which drives one to more and more improve char.. before rolling new char (=shorter lifespan of char).

The graphics, gameplay, sounds and interface are great :)

Server (runnyeye the one and only server I have char on) seems stable. No lags etc. There seem to be relatively often updates for the game, and the updates are checked every time the game is launched - as in Daoc.

Avarage lvl on runnyeye server is only 7, thus as some poster said, with higher lvls it might be hard to get a group.

Dont know how many chars there are registered in runnyeye server. In eq2player isnt such info listed, which is a shame.

Oh I can run it in extreeme quality allright. Theres a memory leak tho.. so I just turn it on when I want an SS or so.

Runs pretty smooth outside Qeynos area...

The best part is, you never run out of quests!
