Eve on linux

All I needed:
OS: Ubuntu 8.10
~$ uname -a
Linux glokta 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Wed Apr 1 20:57:48 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV570 [Radeon X1950 Pro] (secondary) (rev 9a)
~$ wine --version
wine-1.1.24
I read that it works with 9.10 aswell, but I haven't bothered upgrading yet
I pretty much downloaded the EVE installer, installed with wine and ran it with:
padsp wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1670x1050 "C:\Program Files\EVE\eve.exe"
Fullscreen did not work, force it to run in a desktop window
Automatic patching through the client seems to be borked, but manual patching works fine. Sometimes it crashes when encountering to many ship models on grid or a certain ship model it can't handle. It works fine for relaxing stuff like afk-hauling etc
I would never use it for pvp though, too unstable
