Hi guys, just a heads-up that Eve is going to be launching on Steam with a pretty nice offer off 3 weeks free & some cash of first sub after that:

Eve on Steam

If know people who've been wavering about trying it out, now could be the time

What's the specs required for eve?

Pretty low if you run the normal client - if you want to run premium graphics you'll need a graphics card from the last 2 or 3 generations.

Personally I avoid the premium version as I want the fastest load time when I go through a hostile gate :)

it isnt that much slower that it will make a difference tho.

sure if u run in to a 30+ ship blob, but then the old engine would scream in pain to.

even though Steam sucks, thats a good offer!

Steam bloody rocks tbh, more money to the people who deserve it(developers, not huge corporations like EA) - and easier to spread mods, aswell as patches.

I will definetly try Eve now with this, kinda got into the space ship mood after finishing Freelancer again(brilliant game, shame the only real progress spaceship games have gotten since 2003 is Eve).

can you explain what it actually is then. For me it was another one of those bastard things that infected your computer like the google toolbar and yahoo and its mates. However if it has merits it would be nice to know what exactly it is all about?

Steam holds most of my games.

You can digitally purchase and download to the control panel. With reformatting, I just reinstall steam and it puts all my games back on and updates them.

It also has a friends type thing which makes it easy to join servers with people you know. I just find it handy.

It also means wherever you are in the world, if you know your username and password your games go with you. Without having to carry anything physically, no shit with CD Key bollocks either.

Steam is very handy because of the "portability". No fumbling with CDs / DVDs and product keys yeah. But never forget your Steam login details! If you forget them you will never get your account back and you lose all the games you have payed for.

EVE coming to Steam is a good thing, alot of games I've bought has been because of impulse buys from Steam. Since you get the featured product overview popping up when you start it.
