56k players may benefit from a euro server.

Other than that i really dont see any need for one.

1. they have not found "company" who will host their servers.

2. if it will be same as mythic/Goa relationship, dont even bother to buy europe version

3. pings r ok to east coats usa, not with 56k

4. when u play/pay to server whats located at usa, as european u need to pay 17.5%+ taxes to normal price...atm 15$+17.5% / month

5. and who feck cares when european servers r going up, its like they gonna be working about 2004 summer good anyway, and about that time its wow beta atleast out, so go figure.

1) They already have a presence in europe with their European everquest and planetside server. Either they host them, themselves or already have an established host.

2) No they will run all the servers worldwide, so no franchises and no different versions of the client. Means better support and up-to-date patching.

3) We have many users in our guild playing SWG on a 56k modem to the east coast, they dont seem to have a problem.

4) Doesn't matter where the server is, it's what nationality your credit card is registered to that determines what you pay.

5) A lot of people care. And I think it will be a lot earlier than summer 2004 given their rate of progress atm. And don't rely on WOW beta any time soon after the resignation of most of Blizzard's directors and developers 2 weeks ago.

Get your facts straight before you start slagging things off.

Think im just gonna go for the us servers, there doesnt seem to be much of a downside. Bit sick of waiting for patches and sharing servers with different speaking countries (daoc :() especially if there is only 1 char per server...

Wheres the best place to buy it from in your experiences ? :)

TBH the servers will appear once they actually do the European release of SWG, this won't happen until they're happy with the yank version by the looks of it ;)

Lot of threads about this, general feeling was that gamestop (www.gamestop.com) were excellent.

However, if you get it imported this way you may get stung with a £17 fee when its delivered on top of what you've already paid Gamestop, apparently this is how the courier service (UPS?) do things.

Another problem may be availability atm, apparently the game is batch-supplied and its possible that there may be a short wait for the company to recieve stocks, but you can check this on their website (Gamestop also has an excellent order-tracking system) before committing.

Dvdboxoffice is another source, although a few players have had problems with them.

This is all academic really though as the game will not be available retail in the UK until the end of the year (not sure of exact date) so if you want to play you have no choice but to either import it or wait.

Personally I used Gamestop and they were superb.

have to VAT on imports too now... so add 17.5% on top of gamestops fee, and then the 17 import duty and adminfee

well, im one of the poor/sensible souls in GB who hasn't succumbed to the Credit Card companies, so i rely on using Solo (a low rate debit card in the UK, second only in uselessness to Electron) which isn't accepted for registering SW:G subs.

I want a european version, i pre-ordered mine from Play.com and they have the release date down as 19th of September '03 - what this relates to is beyond me, if Sony are not planning on a EU version yet <shrugs>

No, retired from PS, I'm 100% into SWG now.

As for bad reviews... Its a highly hyped game and after playing a few hours it's easy just to say it sux coz it doesnt reach up to ur high exceptations.

It's after u put some time in it the cool stuff comes: new skills, be able to craft new stuff, visit new locations, pvp etc

It took me about over a week to reach Novice Creature Handler and Bio-engineer and now with those skills I'm enjoying it even more.

pc.ign.com gave SWG 8/10.. I only trust ppl who actually have gotten into a game before reviewing it. A review made after playing the game a few hours isn't worth much imo. A review made from a beta is even worse.

.. just my personal opinion.. I'm sure there are ppl who agree with me aswell as disagree. I'm no Star Wars fanboy, I just play it like a MMO game.. maybe thats the reason I enjoy it :)

Get the game and see for ur self.. maybe u like it, maybe u dont.

U know I have spent many, many hours in DAoC.. SWG is way much better imo.

Think im gonna wait a while atleast...hopefully all the big balance issues will be worked out and theyll have added some content or the players will have created it :p

The thing that pisses me off tho is the insane price of the game and the monthly fee just because its star wars...

Eclipse is the unofficial UK/Euro server afaik. Since this has been spreading through the grapevine a lot of people have come to accept that Eclipse will be a Euro server. There are still lost of Yanks who play on it since it's an East Coast server. So there is a nice mishmash of cultures.

:)
