Come on!!!! so close but still no cigar with regards to account creation.

I was expecting it to be up today as its been out of action for 2 days now..... but it doesn't look like its going to happen tonight.

Assuming it's not up later or tomorrow and OB starts Sunday, it's hardly the 'Plenty of time' answer we were given, suppose anyone has problems with their keys etc, leaves only 1 working day to get in touch with GOA/Mythic......

I think they are cutting it very close!

I'm not a huge fan of the flash on the site as it exists ATM, but all will be forgotten when everyone can finally use it for what they really want, AKA putting their codes in.

Well the site says that various sites are giving away free beta keys so surely the account pages should be up tomorrow no point in advertising keys if you can't use them tbh.

Exactly............ and you'd think they'd let the priority people register (us CE owners for example) before all the free keys traffic hammers this site.

Well it appears you can create an account in the US. So much for synchronos roll out. Don't know if you can patch yet though. Looks to me like GOA have the account stuff set up but their awesomely competent Web Designers haven't cracked the anti spam letter input system. Noted the 'We are hiring' ad next to it. Perhaps they should start with a new Web team

There again, it may be that they don't want to allow account creation yet, but off course a customer friendly company might actually tell people that.

Luckily we can still watch the advert for a games convention that finished a week ago. Go Goa go!

Accounts page doesn't equal OB.

it may be that they don't want to allow account creation yet, but off course a customer friendly company might actually tell people that.

To quote their front page:

"We are shutting down the authentication system on the war-europe website to prepare the way for the new account systems that will be coming soon. During this time, you will not be able to log into Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning. This will of course prevent you from using any of the registered services such as the fan art, fantales or fansite submission forms.

The beta forums will not be affected by this situation. Please be sure to keep an eye on the news for further information."

A) not much of it was aimless flaming.
B) one single act of being "in good time" does not outweigh all other problems, especially when we've yet to actually receive the tool which makes the OB even possible.

Personally - it is "only" Thursday, but I am thinking they are starting to cut it close now, because I'm sure that we'll see problems with keys (like the states) and load, and it would all things equal have been much more logical to allow a larger grace period so people could fix their problems before the OB started.
If somebody's key suddenly won't validate, or the website crashes for a day once up - people are in for a lot of problems now with weekend coming up fast, and then it very easily could cut into peoples Open Beta time (which is a part of the product people have bought)

I kinda like the little bug that if you click the big ass "Register for beta" logo at the bottom of the main page you get an error that the password retrieval system is down

but it seems everyman/woman/orc/goblin (et al) and his dog/squig/lion will be able to patch at the same time, ah well, 3-4 gig patch should only take 12 hours lol, if the main download was anything to go by.

Apparently Deebs and Jup are going to sort out a torrent for the patch.

IMHO, CE pre-orders were prepared to pay more for what was advertised. OB Access, Head Start (earlier than anyone else) and loads of tat in the box.
Don't complain that you are'nt getting any unscheduled benefits.

The thing about the patch won't the game patch automatically from the launcher?

As soon as you enter your user/pass it trys to start downloading so shouldn't be as slow as the torrent for downloading patches?

Yeah but if everyone is trying to patch at once? Might be a bit slow, hope there is a FH seperate patch torrent

I'm praying that we're not going to have to use that account username/password + support username/password system that GOA used with DAoC. Unchangeable passwords

Also, I don't know much about web design, but how hard would it be to dump these horrible flash websites that take ten minutes to navigate and create a simple, user friendly html page like the US Herald?

Well Spookie, you are quite right. They do state they are shutting the registration down as the third item on their unattractive and usually unchanging news list. Sorry, I stopped reading anything but the first item when I kept being directed to 2006 news. Thanks for updating me. Struggled to see any official post on this forum or War-Alliance but no doubt it is hidden away somewhere.

I missed the part where I stated that OB was up and available in the US?

Having been involved in creating a mass website with limited resources, I cannot understand why it was too difficult to do a redirect on the 'Beta Registration' link to a message saying that the site was being maintained and will be soon up. That to me would have been standard practice. The advert for a stand on a past show would have been removed. From this, the speed of the site and several other past incidents, such as the news links mentioned above and the 'great' Daoc site, I think my implication that the Web team has some serious flaws and that they should employ someone to sort it out are on the very cool side of the flame.

Now if I had signed up with Mythic in the US, I could at least register my existence and be one step further along. As I said, I don't know if I could patch yet but with Goa I cannot, so my statement about synchronos roll out is actually correct.

Now I do not know what level of service GOA will offer on release. If it is like DAOC, which sucked in comparison to the service available on the US servers, then we are in for a rough time. So far, we have seen more customer reps posting on forums than in the whole of my time on Excal, a good sign! But the web site is a joke and that is the advertisement and interface they are showing to the world. Once I get playing the game I wont care about the website but, at the moment, that is how I am forced to interface with the game and, given the money I have paid/will pay, I think I have the right and good reason to raise the the issue.

Perhaps they might even sort it out!
