(Unoriginal thread title club.)

Well I was sceptical at first. I am not a fan of Charlie Kauffman and I didn't like either Being John Malkovic or Adaptation (as stories that is, as films they were obviously good).

Spotless mind, however, is easily the best film I've seen this year. It'll make you laugh, it'll cry (maybe) and the overall execution of it is genius. It is not an uplifiting film despite what the trailers may lead you to believe but if you consider yourself a movie fan then I insist you go see this.

4.5/5 imo.

I'd like to point out that the film itself will not cry. I seem to be missing out random words while typing :)

Can I also add that Carey is brilliant. I never had doubts about his acting ability but you get bored of the same rubber faced character all the time. Winslet makes a pretty good sidekick too.

For the 0.5 seconds that Elijah Wood was on screen in the trailer, I didn't want to kill him which is a record for me. Hopefully this will maintain throughout the whole film :D

It's fantastic, and despite what you said I actually found it quite uplifting. Drummed up similar feelings for me as Lost In Translation did.

It must have been the mood I was in though. I went to see it again at the weekend and loved it more. It has it's uplifiting moments but I couldn't help feeling it was a total rollercoaster of emotions (excuse the god awful figure of speech). Ie confusion, happiness, despair, sadness, hapiness again etc.

This is an outstanding film. If you want to prove to yourself that there *are* glimmers of hope left in the Hollywood circle of film making then go see it.

Kate Winslet steals it.

Saw this yesterday with the girlfriend and yes, it is a superb film. I want this on DVD as I'm sure its a film in which you find more stuff with each viewing.

Winslet rocks and Carey actually acts very well indeed.

Carrey when he's not in an 'act like a cock' role is actually very good. I saw the trailer when I saw Shaun Of The Dead and it looked pretty good, not much else on so I may bugger off into town and watch it when I'm bored.

I enjoyed this. The missus did not. She enjoyed Troy. I did not.

I'm beginning to think she is a filmic ignoramus :(

Some people said it was trite and gimmicky. I said bollocks to those people.

It's a lovely film. I didn't expect much given the cast of actually well known and well paid actors involved, but they actually act, too. Picking holes in a film like this when there's so much plastic meaningless garbage released these days would be a little pointless.

Bumpity, bumpity.

Picked this up on DVD today and watched it ... what an involving, moving film. Probably the best film I have seen this year.

This is a superb film. I just love everything about it. The acting, the techniques used...
Carey even acted for a change which surprised me....

I may have to buy this on DVD.

Bumparama - Watched this last night, thought it was excellent. Don't watch with the missus if she is a "why did he do that, who's he again,I thought he was dead, is this the past now?" kind of film watcher.

I enjoyed Malkovitch but haven't seen adaptation - is it better or worse than these other two?

Just tried to watch this, what a waste of £3.50

Bored in the first 20 minutes, got about 1 hour in and turned the telly off.

Most boring film I've seen in ages tbh.

Tom, you suck.

Oh well, everyone gets an opinion I suppose, but I really don't see how anyone could dislike this film.

Watched it last night, worked pretty well and Jim did a good job on his character!

Just finished Tears of the Sun, not as cheesy as I expected(Bruce Willis and his squad extract some refugees from Nigeria). Sounds bad, but it turned out ok :p

lol. Today I shall be watching 'The Piano'. Hardly a comic.

Wow, you are really intelligent.

Another boring miramax film with no substance and a lot of ego masturbation.

I agree with Tom to a point. I watched it at the cinema, thought the first 3/4 was good enough, but for gods sake let it die allready. The last 1/4 of the film destroyed my opinion on it completely as the last part was just booooore. Too longwound.
